Family

Family has always been the foundation of my life growing up. I learned the importance of love, hard work, culture, and dedication from my family. They shaped my valleys and gave me strong sense of identity disconnects to the course theme of heritage and identity because who I am today is rooted in the lessons and traditions I received from my family.

Hometown

The place where I grew up, which is Fresno California influenced me in many ways. It taught me the value of community/support and diversity, but also made me aware of challenges like limited opportunities or struggles this connects to the theme of community and belonging because where we come from plays a big role and how we see ourselves in the world

Traditions

When important tradition that my family has is every Christmas Eve we meet up at somebody’s house and we stay up till 12 either playing cards, Loteria or reminiscing about the past watching old videos looking at old pictures. This experience matters to me because it taught me how important family is and how important it is to stick together no matter what. It connects to the theme of resilience and culture and tradition and challenges both shaped how we carry on and grow.

Where I stand today

Today I see myself as someone who is continuing to grow while still holding onto my roots my identity is shaped by the lessons of my family and the influence of my community and the traditions I carry with me this connects to module one theme of identity and belonging because I recognize how my story is part of a bigger story shared by many others.
