<title>Reasoning 1: Due to the drought the Portulaca seeds died off which where soft and easy to eat for the small beaked finch to eat. So when the seeds died off so did the small beaked finches. This resulted in an increase in larger beaked ground finch.</title>

<title>Reasoning 2: Due to the drought when all Portulaca seeds died off the only seeds left were Tribulus seeds, which were hard to eat seeds which small beaked finches could not eat them. Tribulus seeds did not need as much water as the Portulaca seeds did which is why Tribulus seeds lasted longer and overall had more to eat. So the small beaked finch died off due to lack of food.</title>

<title>Reasoning 3: When the smaller beaked finch died off because of the lack of food. This lead to an increase in larger beaked finch because they could eat the spiky Tribulus seeds. The average amount of Tribulus seeds during the drought in 1977 on Daphne Major was 8.3 tribulus seeds per square meter.</title>
