I am a 2nd year Master's student in Development Studies. 

I am originally from the Netherlands, where I lived and studied all my life up until last year. I did my Bachelors in African Studies. I have spent some time in East Africa before I moved to Cape Town. I wanted to study Development Studies here to get a more critical and decolonial perspective on Development! 

I hope to get you excited for sociology, as it is the base of everything in the humanities that you will be studying later on.

I am a born Capetonian, lived here all my life and I worked for Western Cape Education Department (WCED) since 2016 until last week, as a Care and Support Assistant (CSA) in an emotionally supporting capacity for learners. 

I love working with people and the time has come for me now, to further my education, now that my children are older and don't need my attention AS MUCH. I am studying Bachelor of Social Work and I am extremely excited to be here.

I have two daughters and I am the grandmother of an adorable 3 year old boy who calls me Nannah and my eldest daughter is doing her 4th year Bachelor of Social Sciences at UCT this year. The reason may be because so much of what we do is directly correlated to the society we live in and structures, norms, institutions and expectations that the society have resulting in.
