This novel feels like a window because i have never moved houses.but she has had to go through a lot like burning whole right half or having to run from people during midnight. This book had an impact on me knowing that i was great full for having loving parents who would let things like this happen to me.

There was some social issues in the book like Social Class,

Education,Health.It was stated many times throughout the book that they family did not have a family and they were squatters moving from place to place.The dad Rex had a gambling problem and he could not hang on to money.Since the kids were moving from place to place they weren't in rolled into a real school. They home schooled by there parents,and also learned survival skills.The family didn't believe in to much with doctors and more home remedies like taking there ill children to a witch doctor.

In the story a glass castle is brought up.The glass castle represents a home."That and so we could build the glass castle". Rex describes the glass as a perfect home and they dont have to run anymore

The glass castle is brought up a couple times. It seems that the glass castle is a metaphor for a perfect home or a forever home.

There are certain parts of the book where the mom is not around and i wonder where she is. Like when Jeannette burns toilet paper in the bathroom but the mom is no where around
1. Jeanette creates parts of the novel that makes it seem surreal.like how her right side or when her dad chased her mom with a car.

The reader's age will have to do a lot with the book as well as how mature the reader is. To understand what the book is saying to reader.
1. The text starting to get darker/dangerous for young
  Jeannette and things are happening super fast for her. Like her having to shoot at billy or her almost being raped by billy
1. The audience attended to people that could relate to her story or life. Also people who were just interested about learning about peoples lifes.

In the story the ideological values are important. They really do care about there family and just being together. I like how they stick together and look out for each other like how Bryan was getting touched sexually, or like how Jeanette was going to get molested and Bryan goes to save her.

A big social issue in the book is poverty. Throughout the book Jeanette and her family are living in poverty and Rex not being able to save money for the house and spending that money on beer.They also cant afford new things and have struggle eating meals from time to time.

There are times throughout the book where it makes me wonder why they live the life they live, like how they move from place to place. I am glad that i had both parents and they sacrifice so much for me and my siblings and that how we have never really struggled. we did when i was a bit younger but not anymore and i am so greatful for the things i have.Not being able to relate to this book like this i am truly greatful.

Jeannette is starting to mature and realize that her life is not really all that well.She is wanting to do better for herself and wants a better life not just for her but her family and wants to go on well fare.

I believe that learning about the character is important to know.But i cant relate to the book and i am lucky enough to have never been SA or had my mother leave me and put me in a position to have to provide for them.

Jeanette says a quote that stood out to me was " we can't keep living like this" (walls,187). Jeannette realizes that the way there living is not good and they want to change how they live going from house to house and barely being able to eat and only having popcorn.
