In the book A Monster Calls Connor would have rather dealt with Harrys physical bullying then his mom dying or the other awful emotional things going on in his life at home. In Temple Grandin she had to deal with s much bullying and teasing because of being autistic when its obvious she would have rather dealt with physical pain.
