Time extensions such as time and a half can be provided in all exams as an accommodation for MLs. The ENL teacher and principal should consult and determine the length of extra time needed by individual student needs.

Separate Location

Bilingual Dictionaries and Glossaries

Bilingual dictionaries and glossaries can be provided for all exams except foreign language exams. These dictionaries and glossaries provide translations of words, but not explanations of concepts.

NYSESLAT Accommodations

Only MLs with IEPs and 504 plans receive testing accommodations on the NYSESLAT. This may include accommodations such as test read.

Former MLs

Former MLs who have been declassified from ENL or BE services may receive testing accommodations as needed up to 2 years after declassification.

Next Day Completion

MLs may take a Regents examination on the following day if they use extended testing time, and are scheduled for more than one exam per day. The ML must complete the entirety of exam one, and part A of exam two, but can complete part B of exam two the following day.
