         <title>SPELLING RULES FOR THE PASS SIMPLE OF REGULAR VERBS</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>1.</strong>&nbsp; For the regular verbs, the simple past and the past participle are formed&nbsp; by adding&nbsp; ed:<br><strong>EXAMPLE</strong><br>jump--jumped<br>paint--painted<br>clean--cleaned<br>wait--waited<br><strong>EXAMPLE OF SENTENCE<br></strong>She painted a beautiful flower.<br>He cleaned his car on the weekend.<br>She jumped at the diversion.<br><br><strong>2.</strong>&nbsp; <em>If the verb ends in a consonant and -y, we change the&nbsp; -y to -i and added -ed: <br>&nbsp;</em><strong><em>EXAMPLE&nbsp; &nbsp;</em></strong><em>Marry--married</em><strong><em><br></em></strong><em>study--studied<br>fry--fried<br></em><strong>EXAMPLE OF SENTENCE<br></strong>Yesterday Jack studied all day.<br>He was married&nbsp; to her.<br>He fried eggs and potatoes<br><br><strong><br></strong><em><br></em><strong><br></strong><br><br></div>]]></description>
