These are my three reasons why I think children under ten shouldn’t need cell phones.

Firstly, because childhood is the most important step for children to have great mental health to grow. For example, children using cell phones for long hours rolling the feeds and playing games induce anxiety and difficulties to learn, because there's minds are not prepared to receive mountains of information.

Secondly, using the internet in cell phones in that age has a lot of dangers, further the parents don’t have any control of the content. For example, children could text with strangers, access sensitive content (like porn, accident photos etc) and download viruses.

In addition, children under ten need to move their body to have healthy and social growth. For instance, they need to run and play in the parks, meet friends and, most importantly, need to get little skin hurt playing, because all of these things are important to understand their body and social relationships.

To sum up, these are my reasons because I believe children under ten do not use cell phones.

By: Matheus

Nowadays, it is common for people to spend most of their day online, whether for work, study or even for fun. In my view, this habit can become harmful and bring consequences to users due to the excessive use of cell phones, computers, videogames and others.

First of all, it should be considered that many people work using electronic devices and because of that, spend many hours a day connected. But when they get home from work, instead of resting their eyes and minds off the screens, they spend even more time on social media or playing online games. I believe this is not healthy, because the body and mind need to rest so that the person has a good quality of life.

Besides, because of the Covid-19 pandemic, students from schools and universities had to adapt to remote classes, taking virtual classes at home. This has further increased the amount of time this group of people spend online each day. Some examples of the consequences caused by excessive use of cell phones and computers are pain in the neck, hands and shoulder, impaired sleep, posture problems and psychological problems such as anxiety and depression.

To summarize, I believe that people should be aware of the dangers of spending a lot of time online, especially when it comes to children and teenagers, because they are growing up and can develop various complications.

By: Julia

Nowadays, is common to see babies or young children using cell phones to watch videos and play games. Parents think it's a nice way to make the kids entertained, but I disagree. Cell phones can make life easier, but when you are a child your life is not supposed to be complicated enough to have a cell phone.

First of all, children must not be without supervision, so the excuse about communicating with their parents or other people does not work, because their supervisor might have a mobile in these situations.

In addition, there's a lot of content for children on the internet to catch them, but I don't think they have the maturity to use a cell phone or internet. There are so many inappropriate things and dangerous people, like pedophiles, who could have access to them or their image.

To sum up, I believe kids need to be in touch with other kids, improve their abilities, have hobbies and play with toys. Having a healthy and full of activities routine is really important to them to grow healthier and evolve their skills and habits.

By: Vitória

Nowadays it's easier and easier to see young children or even babys with cell phones. This happens because of the bad influence that the technological world give us. We, adults or children, spent almost the entire day connected.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Brazilian Pediatric Society (SBP), the screen time recommend from kids between the ages 6 to 10 is 1 and a half or 2 hours if supervised by an adult.
But the reality is different. Most parents don't really care about the impact that cell phones can have on their childrens life, and just let then have fun with it, not worrying about the consequences. Most social media that kids use don't really filter their content and don't really make then child approved. That's one of the reasons why cell phones in the hands of kids can be a problem.
It might be easier to let your children's just watching something while you do your things, but is also important that you be a part of this children development so, instead of letting they go crazy with electronic devices, try to come up with exercises for both of you, for example: build a lego figure, solve a puzzle, read books. This could really have a positive impact on their lifes.

By: Maria Eduarda Lima

In these days, it is quite common to find younger and younger children who own cell phones and are connected to the internet.

There are many factors responsible for this phenomenon, including the need for parents to distract them and the clamor of children who see their little friends using cell phones and do not want to be left out.

However, it is essential to be especially careful with the exposure of children to technology, in addition to damage to the intellectual development of the little ones, the risks to physical integrity present in agents who share the same virtual sphere as children must be considered.

Therefore, moderation is, as always, the best way to go, the internet can offer advantages but its unregulated use has already revealed serious consequences in our society.

By: Ricardo

Nowadays, most people's lives are intrinsically online. Job, studies, stream are all in internet. In my opinion, the primarily consequence is that people need to spend more time in this virtual area, not only for choice, but really because they need and get used to it.

Firstly, it is a fact that being online for a great period of time is the newest and basic requirement to get some type of jobs. This happens, I believe, because is more lucrative for the employer to spend less money in space, energy, maintenance and others, as well as having the employee working full time, probably with devices that he bought by himself.

In addition, the newest online apps are made to get the user attached. For this reason, the time that used to be for real rest were substituted for staying online many hours in a row. The consequence is people associate free time with being virtually connected.

Finally, in the present days the average is to stay online all the time. This happens for two main reasons: the work environment is mostly online nowadays, this being a requirement; and the profound way people interact with apps of social media.

Carolina

In these days, not having an internet is an incommon fact in most part of our society. In my point of view, almost everything including communication, work, study and leisure are associated with being online and it makes people spend too much time on the internet, turning them dependent to this technology.

Firstly, in many areas of work, it is required that the employee needs an average knowledge of the uses of internet to get the job. With the pandemics, this fact has been intensified even more, as the remote work has been deployed and also the education system was forced to create remote classes.

Furthermore, it is possible to see in the society that many people developed a dependence about being online, and scientists named that "Nomophobia" (an abbreviation for "No mobile phobia"). The great example of it in Brazil is when there are server crashes of some social networks like Whatsapp or Instagram. In this condition, the person gets very anxious and feels afraid of being without the smartphone or being incommunicable.

To sum up, people spend too much time online because there is a considerable demand of the society to stay on the internet and it is reflexing in health problems. So, in my opinion, the balance of the time spent at being online and offline must be considered.

By: Letícia Kaori Suzuki

Nowadays with the digital era everyone is connected to the internet. The use of electronic devices rose up and now younger people have access to these gadgets. One surprising thing is that cellphones are given to young children, and that can be a problem.

Firstly, children shouldn't be exposed to too many hours seeing a screen, they have to spend their time doing activities that can help their mental and physical health, because spending too much of their time using electronics can be damaging to their development. One example is, with the pandemic, a lot of children spend most of their time in front of a screen, and we don’t know what will be the long term effects to this generation in the future.

Many parents give their children cell phones, so they can distract them and make taking care of a child easier, but there are many consequences for this action. The majority of children don’t have the maturity to use a cellphone at a young age, if they use it unsurpevisioned, they can be exposed to inappropriate content, suffer cyberbullying and become addicted to these electronics. The parents should only give their kids a cellphone after they explain safety measures and when the child is more mature and, before this occur, children should be only given a specific amount of time in front of a screen with parental supervision.

To conclude, I believe that children under 10 should not be given cell phones. Their parents should pay more attention to them and spend more time with their children, elaborating a lot of activities that can be beneficial to their development and give them cell phones when they are older.

By: Isabela

Is it a good idea to have one day a week off the internet?

Now a days, the internet is everywhere and it is in everyone’s lives. Even people who do not have easy access to the internet are affected by it. There is a sense that the internet imprisons our mind connected all the time. However, the point is, life is busy for most urban people and I think internet is not the cause of this overworking or stressful life.

First of all, the internet is a tool humanity has developed with the purpose of short distances, and make things easier and faster. With this net, thousands of informations are available at the same time and staying connected is almost automatic. However, the solution for anxiety is not ban the internet for one day a week because there are more six days to deal. The solution is to deal with the cause of anxiety, not with the accessories.

The thing here is to ask yourself what causes you fear, dissatisfaction and stress. Maybe, reflect what you are looking for in using the internet a lot. Imagine if you keeped yourself totally disconnected for a day and on that day an emergency would happen or a really good thing, you would not have a choice to choose whether you will respond or not. So, with a conscious use it is possible to choose when, for what and how to use the internet without injuries for the mind.

In my opinion, an everyday exercise of using internet with balance and awareness is a better way to solve problems such as stress. Because a day a week is just a little part in a routine and life is composed by all days which could not be turned off

By Winni

I think this make we become more anxious, stressed out and procrastinator.

Firstly, many new informations are posted every second and all this things affect us. This means that if you are in a bad day, and look at the pictures the people posted enjoying the life can make you feel worse. I think if we try to reduce the time we spend looking at instagram we will feel better.

In addition, there are so many apps and new things that we want to be on top of everything all the time, and sometimes we fail to fulfill our responsibilities or postpone it until a simple task becomes stressful. In my opinion, it's important to set aside a day a week to put your smartphone aside and do other activities. I like to disconnect on Sunday so I feel more relaxed about starting a new week.

To sum up, I believe the internet is an amazing thing that helps us in many ways, but the way we use it today can be very harmful. So it's good to take a break from the networks and enjoy offline life.

By: Karine

People use the internet to do many things, like work, study, play, have a fun time, and mainly talk to friends and family. Nowadays, most of the communication is online and, It's intensified because of the pandemic of COVID-19. ]I think that"online life" helps a lot these days, but we have some bad points.

Slowly, parties and dates were being allowed, and people started to go out together. People remain stuck in their smartphones, sometimes taking pictures (saving memories), or just scrolling on social media, making it difficult to socialize.

However, the technology could be vicious. Nowadays, some apps are programmed to be the most attractive and catchy possible, and it's a problem. A lot of people throw away a lot of time in it, forgetting the real social life. Looking to solve this kind of situation, some people create an off party, where the smartphones are confiscated at the party entrance and returned on departure, to enjoy the party.

To sum up, people spend too much time online these days and, even with some types to solve this, the best one is always the "control" because nothing in excess could be good.

Larissa .
