Draft lottery instituted and many become draft dodgers. A lottery is a form of gambling that draws numbers out of a jar at random and the number becomes the winner. A draft dodger is a person who is picked to be drafted by the government and avoids it. A draft lottery took place during the Vietnam War because there were so many people protesting the war and soldiers were becoming less so the government started a draft lottery and picked random people to send to war. This is when draft dodgers became a thing as people who were drafted tried to avoid going to war.
