Bank Chung is now a normal type of bread in Vietnam due to how the French brought it to Vietnam.

- After the war happened and Ha migrated to Alabama, Ha barely was able to taste good Vietnamese food. It is very important to know Vietnamese food and how it’s so attracting. in the story, Ha misses Vietnamese food a lot and eventually she chooses war in Vietnam over peace in Alabama. Not to mention, this was also caused by bullies, racism, uncomforted,

When Ha and her family were on a random navy boat that was traveling to no where, they were squished up and they were migrating as a refugee.

- While war started, Ha’s family had no choice but to migrate and live like/as a refugee. It is good to know how it is and what is the feeling to be a refugee and stay in a refugee camp because Ha as a 10 year old girl experienced what it’s like to be a refugee, and if other people know, they would know how much hardship Ha has gone through.
