She describes to Nick how she wishes for her young daughter to not experience the pain of being a woman in this time period.

The idea that love can only be given to one person.


How Gatsby represent the American Dream (p. 141, l. 10-27)
Gatsby wants what Daisy represents, not her as a person.
"But what gave it an air of breathless intensity, was that Daisy lived there - it was as casual a thing to her as his tent out at camp was to him." (l. 16-18)  He wants to see luxury as a casual thing and not something he has to achieve.

The American dream
Daisy wants (needs) the American dream, and therefor Gatsby achieves that so he can be with her 
- He wants to be someone Daisy wants to be with  

In the quote it seems like Gatsby does not love Daisy, but he loves the idea of Daisy - she represents the American dream (rich and happy). 
This is because his focus is on the beauty and romance of the house. 
It is also caused by how he describes his desire for Daisy: 
“It exited him, too, that many men had already loved Daisy - it increased her value in his eyes” (page 141, line 24-25)

    They are all very hypocritical as their opinions toward infidelity are very negative even though they (almost) all have extramarital affairs.
