I really enjoyed the storyline and the way the author writes in the book. I like the suspense and being able to predict the next part in the book.

One book I was able to read this summer was Wild Swans. This book I did not really enjoy because I mostly enjoy fast-paced books and my favorite genres are fantasy and science fiction. This book's genre is realistic fiction and not very fast-paced so I did not enjoy it as much as my usual picks for books. I wanted to try a new genre so I decided to read this book and ended up not enjoying it. There are many great books out there that are outside of my favorite genres, but I personally did not enjoy this book. I would only recommend this to people who enjoy reading all types of realistic fiction books.

I absolutely love Sarah J Maas' style of writing and grew to love her Throne of Glass series. This series/book was recommended to me by Leah. The Assassin's Blade is the prequel to the series. It is a series I recommend to people who enjoy fantasy, with some violence. Sarah J. Maas writes more fantasy and young adult/teen novels so you should check them out if you like those genres.

This book was a very good book that I picked up during the Rock the Drop event Ms. Prettol does throughout the year. Some of those books that are dropped can actually be very interesting and I think people should really participate in the event if they want a chance in taking home a really good book. Breaking Beautiful is a captivating story in the genre of mystery. It talks about a girl who experienced a car accident with her boyfriend who died in the accident. Officers are trying to figure out what happened, but she does not remember that night.

Over the summer I wanted to read a book out of my comfort zone and wound up reading this book. This book is more of an apocalyptic feel to it. If you like books about vampires or books about dystopia, I would recommend this book for you. There is also a sense of a vampire-ish feel to the storyline. I ended up really liking this book because of all the action and anticipation going on in the story.

This was by summer reading book that I chose for this year and I really loved that I got to read a historical fiction book this year. I really enjoy reading historical fiction and realistic fiction books, but don't read them as much as fiction books, so I was glad I could read one for this year. Geraldine Brooks truly captures the true struggles of how Native Americans were treated during the 16-1700s in her book Caleb's Crossing.

Sarah J. Maas is a great author who also wrote the Throne of Glass series. I really enjoy reading her writing because of how descriptive and engaging it is. I chose to read her next great series A Court of Thorns and Roses after reading her Throne of Glass series. This book is about a huntress named Feyre who lives with her father and two sisters. She hunts to provide food for her family. One day she sees a wolf and kills it for its fur. She later finds out it was not an ordinary wolf, but a faerie in the form of one. The faerie's friend finds her and takes her as his captive. What she experiences in the faerie world is what she never knew about them.

Steelheart is a great action-packed book. It takes place in a dystopian world where Epics rule over the humans. The Epics have special superhuman powers which allows them to be very powerful. The humans have accepted that they can do nothing about it, but there is a group that are trying to fix this problem. They are called the Reckoners. David, the main character, will join this group because he also has a passion to rid of the Epics who are ruling over them.

My Brother Sam is Dead brings us back to when our nation was formed. It talks about how people were fighting for our freedom so we could be our own country. I enjoyed learning about our history in a way where I can connect with the character and know how some people viewed the war. This book allowed me to think about the past and how the Revolutionary War really shaped our country. It showed all the difficulties we needed to overcome to gain our freedom.

This was the book I read for our survival unit in LA. I really enjoyed this book because it was full of action and emotion. The main character, Cassie, is living in a world full of humans and Others and she doesn't even know it. All she knows is that she made a promise. She made a promise to her little brother, Sammy, that she would always keep him safe no matter what. She has to go through many struggles to try to find her brother and along the way becomes acquaintances with Evan Walker who she does not know if she could trust. Living in this world she needs to make careful decisions or it could lead to her death which means not fulfilling her promise to Sammy.

I never really read any books that were in a poetry format so I chose this book for my reading challenge over winter break. Reading a book in poetry was much different then reading a novel and I felt as if it had more meaning to it. It describes real events and real emotions that give it more meaning. Reading in a book with a different writing style actual helped me to see more about other writing formats that I actually ended up enjoying. I enjoyed it so much that for the next story writing assignment, we had to do in LA, I chose to write my story in poetry format. I recommend for everyone to try to get out of their reading comfort zone and always try something new. I found out that it could turn out to be your next favorite thing.
