An impact would be the loss of land. The natives lost their land, which caused the natives to have to live on reservations.

Another impact would be that the settlers gained a bunch of money. This in turn gained the U.S more money, and started an empire.

A final impact would be how many natives died. When the natives moved southeast, 20% of their population died.

One lasting impact of early American history has been slavery. For example, since slavery was so prevalent across America, racism and violence towards black was very high. Which people had passed down to their children, indoctrinating them into also being racist. Not only that, the legal system is also against people of color. This is also shown in the way that lynching was super common back after slaves were free. Not to mention the Jim Crow laws, which were absolutely disgusting. Another lasting impact of the first half of American history has been capitalism. One example of this is the way that our current economy is terrible. The prices for basic necessities and living are extremely high. This can also be seen in the fact that gas prices are super high. Also in the fact that if you compare the prices for food in the 60's through 80's to today's, it's appalling and saddening. This collection explores these legacies and others by discussing the events and impacts of slavery and other injustices that the U.S has caused towards its people.

As seen in my earlier discussions, early US history has left a long legacy of slavery and capitalism. I believe that the legacy of slavery should be preserved. I believe that one way we can do this is by teaching the real history, and not the white-washed version. We need to teach and talk about how sick this was. This is important because Not that I think slavery is a good thing, I think it’s because we should recognize the horrible abuse and how inhumane it was. We need to learn from our mistakes and not repeat this. I also believe that the legacy of capitalism should be preserved because I think it’s something America is most known for. I believe that one way we can do this is by continuing to teach and talk about this. This is important because we can obviously see how terrible our current cost of living is. I think future generations can learn from this and hopefully not do this again.
