         <description><![CDATA[<div>So far, populism may be one of the effective programmes that can effectively check the self-enrichment of elites. Modern democracies, on the one hand, check elitism by electing the chief executive and members of parliament by universal suffrage and, on the other hand, isolate the population from specific decisions through elections. In addition, the constitution is used to check the outcome of public opinion. This is called "constitutional democracy". As a result, the people are often excluded from "constitutional democracy" and their interests are largely dependent on the handouts of the elite. This is particularly true in the context of globalisation, where the gap between rich and poor is widening and the interests of ordinary people are less protected, so populism is needed to protect their interests.</div>]]></description>
