Guy Montag is an ordinary man intially who just goes with the way of life living very generically. Over time, he begins to contradict his previous character and breaks out into a curious man with questions that he wants answers. Clarisse is a free spirited girl who things differently of others. Her and her family all are outsiders based on the current world they lived in. Mildred represents a character who is absorbant in her own life which is how many people in the society work. With her own individual, bland lifestyle, in a way it repulses Guy.

Captain Beatty is the boss of Montag and serves as a cheif at the fire station. He leads all the men into believing that its important to burn the books.

Faber serves as a mentor who guides Montag to becoming who he wants to be. He is educated and very wise which helps develop Montags character.
