My groups first got appointed to the cat mya and she was the only cat that was extremely shy and nervous, as a group we set out a task to get her confidence upto, this would’ve help people see her as the wonderful cat that she is. Doing this will benefit me because I’m learning to tame the cat and giving an owner a cat who needs the attention.

Cleaning the chalet
When we clean the chalet the first thing to do is get mya out and comfortable so we put her in a cat carrier with a blanket over the top so then she wasn’t scared of her surroundings. Once she was in the carrier we placed her in the weighing room. When we began, the first thing to do was get everything out e.g shelves, toys, scratching posts and food and water bowls and bed. We brushed all the hair off and sprayed it with safe4 to get rid of all bacterial infection. We got the safe4 wipes and cleaned every inch of the enclosure, this is all being cleaned with safe4 because its safe and non-toxic for the cat. Once everything is cleaned, we put all the shelf’s back and toys and them added more for the cat to play with.]]> 2019-01-21 18:22:05 UTC https://padlet.com/ellisiaskye1/q42od8n1t81v/wish/322750593 ellisiaskye1 https://padlet.com/ellisiaskye1/q42od8n1t81v/wish/322751428 in our practical today we was assigned to do a full clean of our cat pod. however we couldn't because we have managed to get re-home out cat and get it to a successful happy family. so instead of being in the cat chalet i was assigned to bathing the dogs and grooming them we had 45 mins to complete this task which involved in washing the dog with the correct shampoos, managing to restrain the dog whilst you are washing them also once you have done in the shower with them you have to towel dry them and then get them dry with the big hair dryer (was a struggle s Ralph hated the sound of that one and was having no of it ) once that was done you have to brush the with the correct brushes so that you didn't damage their hair. whilst doing all of this its important to actually bond with the dog because it makes the experience better for yourself and for the dog because no one is resing their voice so it does not create anymore stress for anyone.

when actually coming to bathing Ralph:
 when we went down to collect Ralph from the dog kennels he was happily sleeping after a long walk from the students before but he was so ! muddy but that made it more of a challenge for me to make him look presentable again. when i put him into the bath he wasn't liking it at first and tried his hardest to jump out but because i have had experience of working in a dog groomers it was easier for m than what it was for other trying to restrain their dog. once i fully got all the mud out of Ralph i carried him over to the grooming table and began the long process of drying him this took at least 25 minuets of my time because hes a medium haired dog with curly ears so its harder to get his fur completely dry. as i was doing this Sarah walked and because Ralph and Rocky are her dogs they both started barking and trying to get to her so that was hard challenging of keeping him restrained but i managed to stay in control finally i fully completed the task and Ralph was looking presentable.

today in Sarah Crowthers lesson we had to complete our monitoring sheets in the exotic room so all we had to do was weigh out the food of out chosen animal that we chose in the practical the week before and then weigh out that they had eaten and wash the food bowl and refill it with the food according to the plan they have we also have to make sure that its all the same weight a the week before otherwise our results will be inconclusive and incorrect. once we finished that i had to change and clean the water tray so the it meets the five needs of the ability to access fresh water and clean food. 
once everything was filled out in the exotics room and everything was done with the monitoring bit of the lesson we went down to small bridge to see the new born goats in the barn we came down to preform a castration on the male baby so then there is no interbreeding in the family because if that was to happen we would be breaking the law and going again the animal welfare act. so Ayesha and Sarah preformed the actual procedure because they are experienced and we are not officially qualified to do that]]> 2019-01-24 18:34:00 UTC https://padlet.com/ellisiaskye1/q42od8n1t81v/wish/324076426 ellisiaskye1 https://padlet.com/ellisiaskye1/q42od8n1t81v/wish/324113405 The Five Needs:

1) the need to be able to be housed with or apart from other animals
2) the need to protect from pain, suffering injury and disease
3)  the need for a suitable environment
4)  the need for a suitable diet
5) ability to express natural behaviour
The five need are what all species of animal should have access to not matter what the situation is, if the animal does not have the area to meet these demands the owner is breaking the law and the animal should no longer be there if the owner can not give the animal the access to ANY of these.

By this we mean... when we re- home and cat to you the requirements are that you can not live near/on a main road, you cannot live in a flat and you can not live in any rented apartment, house or bungalow why?... because the cat will not have the ability to express its natural behaviours and also will not have the need for a suitable environment so we will not re-home any cat toy you if you are under these circumstances.

customer: 'could we adopt a cat?'
me: ' hi yes you can could you please fill out the home finder form thank you '
customer: begins filling out the form
the home finder form has been complete in detail and the customer has already got a cat and has also got a child under the age of 10
customer: ' please could we have this cat?'
me: i am terribly sorry but this cat cannot b re- homed to you because of certain circumstances you ave shown in your home finder form, i am sorry,  i can show you the cats that you could possibly have '
customer: 'why can we not have this one? what are the circumstances?'
me: ' i can not re- home this cat to you because in you home finder for you said you have already got cat and the cat you would like can only be homed on its own because of some behavioural problem he has with companions in the same house as him. also you child is under the age of 10 and the cat you would like can not be homed with children under the age of 11 ( has to be homed with children that are in high school/college) this is because the cat can not cope with the attention and constant touching of the children'
customer: ' okay that fine could we have this one ?'
me: ' yes ! this cat fit in with the circumstances you are in, however this cat has not been neutered so we will give you a voucher to the valentines vets so when the cat is older enough you will NEED to take the cat there to get him neutered this voucher will pay for the whole cost of it so you will not have to pay.
