Semiology - is the study of signs and their meanings. The basic theory behind signs is that they are the basic building blocks to any and all media text as media text are nothing but a complex collection of these sighs to convey a meaning or multiple meanings.

Theorist Ferdinand de Saussure argued that a sign is a combination of two elements; Signifer and Signified

The Signifier is a physical aspect of a sign - They are the things we see, hear and/or the representation - word(s), image, Colour, Sound or Symbol(s)

The Signified is the conceptual aspect of the sign - Its meaning we generate in our heads through interpretation of the Signifier.

Signifier
Sign  =  _______________

    Signified

Codes/Encodes/Decodes

Signs work together insets that are called Codes. A simple example of this is the Alphabet, with 26 separate letters all combining in various formations to create signification.
Encode - Select and orangise signifiers in hope to convey specific meanings
Decode - Audience interpretation of these signifiers and determine what they signify

Denotation/Connotation

Denotations describe what a signifier, like for example; the signifier is a simple drawing of the sun and the denotation would be that simple drawing. A Connotation is how the audience/consumer interprets the meaning of the signifier. The audience can connote many possible meanings from just one signifier based by one's age, gender, sexuality, experience culture and society.

This is my original photo that was taken in the TV Studio with two soft boxes. My aim was to capture the image while leaving enough space to add anchorage to the image. Because the bottom of the bottle is empty and clear black stained glass, I kept getting too much light reflecting off it. To fix this small problem I moved the left hand soft box further away and the right was turned on the spot. The results are no white blow out on the right and the line of light on the left.
The guideline settings for the camera on this shoot was an ISO of 200 or less, an Aperture of F:11 or more and a Shutter Speed of 200.
The settings I used for this shoot were slightly different the ISO remained the same and Shutter but Aperture was set to F:18.

Being a prime lens, it has zoom, to get closer to my subject i would have to physically move into it. With the high shutterspeed I could shoot handheld since my tripod wouldn't reach.

The results from this new lens was incredible, it was able to maintain focus and all the detail in the Sim Card. The sim fills up more of the image so it's easier to cut round and edit. Getting closer resulted in even more detail (the pattern round the Vodafone logo) but the subject had a shadow that i feel can be downscale, so i thought of blue tacing the sim to the backboard to see if the shadow could be minimise.

experimenting with colour correction. It took some time to understand how Colour Correction worked. I referred back to the Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 Classroom in a Book and reviewed the different ways I could colour correct. I ended up choosing to use adjustment layers and applying the "Three-way Colour Correction" as iut was easier to use and I felt most comfortable using. Not all the clips used where corrected, near enough all the low light / dark shots are left original. This was due to any altercations made ruined the clips and did not fit in with the tone of the rest.
