I took the test at the beginning of this video series and it didn't seem very hard. I got them all right on the first try, so I wasn't expecting to learn much from this course. However, I was surprised that was not the case. I've never really paid attention to the details of business, but after these videos I have a basic understanding, I think.
I never realized that there was a difference between stakeholders and stockholders, but now I know that stakeholders are those who will be impacted by the decisions a company makes; whereas stockholders are investors in a company. I also never knew what the different types of businesses were. I've been thinking about starting my own nonprofit for some time now, so this was very interesting to learn about for me.

There’s a lot that goes into running a business and since I started doing some stuff on my own I found some of the topics kind of interesting. I keep a little ERP system that I do by hand in a notebook that keeps track of all my materials I buy for all my vinyl decals so that way I when I make sales I can subtract it from the total cost. You see supply and demand a lot with video game consoles when they first come out. The start out with a very high price tag a lower availability. Then as time goes on they become cheaper as they become more available.

The net worth formula was new to me. I always kind of wondered about that.

A lot of this was review for me as I already have a couple business and marketing classes under my belt. However it was a nice refresher. It was very enlightening to hear about brand again as it is something I am trying to define personally for myself in my web design class. Also it was interesting to learn about ERP because we use one at work very often and it was cool to be able to apply it to my current position. Other than that I was intrigued about leading and managing people. I often see flaws in how our business, that I am currently employed at, runs things in regards to their employees. Hopefully some changes will be implemented soon.

Alot of the points from this video were things I had learned from previous marketing classes I've taken, but it was a good review. I liked the positive light it cast to running a business because alot of times perceptions of business owners are negative; assuming they're only out to make money. The section that was most interesting to me was the parts about branding your company. Branding is and area I've been interested in doing for work once I graduate since I really enjoy creating logos and marketing materials. I didn't realize all the different types of business there are so I found that portion interesting as well.

Understanding profit seemed to be important in this video as it is running a business. Managing is also very important to keeping s steady business that is organized. Lastly, ERPs because it keeps track of mostly all the data of the company.

I've been running my own business for a few years and I understand the difficulties in it. Much of this video helped break down different aspects of the process. I found it interesting how they explained the hiring process and termination aspects of businesses. While I am a sole owner, I don't have to worry about it but it was a good thing to learn in case we take on more employees. I also found it useful learning about ERP's.

This video was so informative in regards to what it takes to start a business, how to keep everything running smoothly and tips/things to watch so your hard work doesn't go down the drain to easily!
