Appeal to Authority is using someone of high importance in society - such as a celebrity with many fans around the world - to influence their fans to do or buy something. When such a high public figure is telling people that they are taking a certain action, their followers tend to do the same. An example of this is a celebrity telling fans who to vote for so fans will do the same, or promoting a certain clothing brand etc.
