This club is for student leaders who are comfortable speaking to an audience and enjoy cultivating relationships with prospective students.

Our busiest time is January through April, when our Socials take place, but we maintain contact throughout the year.

Just this year we've hosted three workshops, hosted an elementary/middle school robotics competition, and advocated to the federal government for increased access to STEM education. Our teams competes in the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) and the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC). In addition we are a very successful team- in 2019 our FTC team won the State Championship, and our FRC team did the same in 2020. 

Our meeting times vary as different parts of the club meet at different times either virtually, f2f or asynchronously-- typically 2-3 days throughout the week. Both FRC and FTC meet year round. Also, you'll be able to be involved regardless of whether you are in person or virtual.

What do we do?
WWE's mission is to bring attention to gender inequality issues and the mistreatment of women and to drive change through spreading awareness. We discuss societal problems that women face now and throughout history (anywhere from toxic masculinity to femicide in Turkey).

Wheeler Technical Community acts as the southeast chapter of the World Computer Exchange. We seek to reduce the digital divide for students in developing countries by refurbishing donated computers from around the Atlanta area. These computers are then collected by the WCE and shipped off!
A basic repair can range from simply installing a new operating system to soldering replacement components on motherboards.

Meetings:
Before the pandemic, we would meet every two weeks after school on Wednesdays, but now we congregate on a Discord server. Computer pickup and drop-off is your responsibility, but you may be able to find a current member to transport you.

Get Involved:
No experience is required to join WTC! We have many skilled members who are more than happy to teach a newcomer computer repair, although this may come with difficulty in the pandemic.

  • Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), is a non-denominational organization that has chapters in schools across the country. Wheeler FCA is a community for people to meet, worship, listen to speakers, discuss their faith, and ultimately grow in their relationship with Jesus.
What does an FCA meeting look like?
  • Free breakfast is available! This includes a hot dish (like casserole), fruit, pastries, juice, and doughnuts!
  •  A few worship songs are sung with the lyrics on a screen.
  • A speaker (usually from a local church) gives a brief message.
  • FCA is dismissed with plenty of time to get to class!
Who should come to FCA?
  • FCA is a place for EVERYONE, regardless of where they are in there relationship with Jesus. It’s the perfect environment to kickstart your relationship with Jesus, or to continue growing it!

Wheeler’s Math Team is a club welcome to members of all skill levels. Every week, the captains teach students challenging math concepts that are not usually taught in class. MEGA eSports is a community of people who are interested in video games and competitive eSports.
If you do not know what eSports is, it is a type of competition that tests ability and teamwork in video games - in short, you're playing a video game competitively with a team. This may seem silly, and could easily be considered as an excuse to waste time, but many colleges, including schools like Auburn, Ohio State, and Michigan, have been known for giving sports-level scholarships to some of these players, and the professional-level leagues often have prize pools in the millions.
MEGA also plays host to casual gaming, like after-school Super Smash Bros. tournaments and Mario Kart competitions, though these have mostly stopped due to the pandemic.

Before COVID, MEGA's meetings occurred on Wednesdays when there was information to go over. Now, our Discord server has all of the information about the club and can act as a point for asking questions and getting to be a part of MEGA's community.

ICA is about creating a tight knit community of students that are interested in learning more about Indian cultures and lifestyles. We have conversational discussions about a specific topic where our club members can meet new students and sharing ideas and experiences. 
Due to covid, our year has looked very different. We hope to have a few movie nights where we will stream Indian movies of different languages through zoom, opening up the chat-box feature for students to discuss the movie while watching. As a club, we are always trying to find new ways to give back to our community, and this year we are hoping to set up donation drives for everyone to donate their lightly used Indian cultural clothing to be distributed by the Raksha foundation. 
In all, we would be so excited for all of you new students to sign up for our club and come participate in the things we do!

Chick-fil-A Leader Academy is a club all about reimagining high school leadership. Our main goal is to help the community by following our motto: impact through action. The most important thing in this club is that every student is engaged, exposed to new ideas, and equipped with the knowledge to help serve others. Each month, all of the students gather together to learn leadership principles through Leader Labs, which are fun, engaging lessons that teach students the practical tools they will need to make a positive impact. At the end of the year, we get together to brainstorm for our culminating Impact Project. This year because of COVID, we have had to explore virtual means through which we can impact our community. We plan to complete our project by the end of April, and right now we are in the process of putting together ideas to create a fun welcoming session for our new Magnet students!

Helping Hands is the largest volunteering organization at Wheeler. The club offers a wide variety of events to participate in throughout the year. This club is a great way to become involved with the Wheeler community and gain some valuable volunteering experience. Typically, we have an Ice Cream Social at the beginning of the year to welcome new club members and hand out T-shirts, but because of COVID, we were not able to do this. Most of our events have been virtual tutoring this year, but we are starting to look for other ways in which we can safely take part in helping our community.

NGCC is a competition where students are able to present their ideas of change towards NGN's 21 humanitarian goals and then win prizes and seek further investment opportunities.

Wheeler Ultimate Frisbee is a great way for students to play the sport they love: frisbee! We are dedicated group of athletes who compete against other high schools throughout the state of Georgia. Some of these schools include Pope, Lassiter, Walton and more! We have created a winning culture at Wheeler High School and have topped at tournaments throughout the last few years.
Practice and Game Schedule:
We usually hold 1-2 practices a week and we hope to resume this process once it is safe enough. We usually have games every 2-3 weeks have 1-2 tournaments every semester.

The Wheeler Thespian society is a place for all things theater. Much like National Honors Society,  the Thespian Society is an honor program where students earn points for participation in theater is that count towards prestigious titles and amazing events like Theocon. During meetings, we do everything from mock dance auditions and improv games to workshops on set building and prop making. Whether you are a dancer, actress, tech, or just interested in theater, the thespian society has something for you!

Meetings:
Currently, we are holding meetings on the last Wednesday of every month over zoom. However, we hope to meet more frequently (~2 times a month) once things are safer and we can all return to school.

Throughout the year, you prepare and study various topics that would not normally be found in a typical school class. This includes, but is not limited to, Astronomy, Ornithology, Herpetology, and even Glaciers. Half of the events are build events which include Sounds of Music (building an instrument), Circuit Lab, Chemistry Lab, and Boomilever (using small structures to hold big masses). By the end of the year we compete in tournaments against other top STEM schools like Walton, Chattahoochee, and others. In the past we have had high placements at state and always finish in the top three at regionals. 

We typically meet once or twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school for an hour or so. Much of the work is done individually or with friends.

This includes a CNC mill, a laser cutter, and a 3-d printer. In order to properly utilize these tools, software such as AutoCAD, Inventor, Fusion, and Revit are studied.

People work on projects both individually and in groups, and all levels of experience are welcome.

Several club projects that have been done include acrylic keychains, a cardboard Shrek statue, and a drafting club sign (see video below for a production compilation of the latter)

Wheeler Cricket Club is an athletic club where passionate students can come out and play the game of cricket. From our participation in several tournaments/seasons, Wheeler Cricket is a winning team that has completed undefeated seasons along with winning state championships. Currently, we are in our spring season and play a total of about 8 games. The good news is that each year, cricket continues to grow in Georgia and we play more and more games with that. 
Games and Practice:
We usually meet 1-2 times a week for practice and during our fall and spring season, we practically have one game every weekend. We understand the safety concerns due to COVID and with that, we try to take the appropriate precautions.

WCMO
We know music is a very powerful tool. It brings one much joy and happiness and even changes lives.  In this club, we put that tool to use to make a difference in our community. The Wheeler Community Music Outreach club is an outreach group, dedicated to spreading joy and happiness throughout the community via music. We give virtual performances to locations such as 
  • senior homes
  • elementary school
  • even Wheeler High School itself.
Any instrument is welcome, as we currently have 
  • vocalists,
  • pianists
  • violinists
  • floutists
  • trumpetists
  • trombonists
  • guitarists
  • harmonium players as well!
This is also a great way to get to know fellow musicians and build your network! You receive service hours for participating!

Helping Notes Division
Not only do we offer free performances, but we have also begun a new division of WCMO, called Helping Notes. In this division, we offer free piano lessons to financially underprivileged children. For example, we are currently scoped to teach Bhutanese refugee children. We provide the children with keyboards and music and we instruct them virtually for a period of 2 months, at which time we try to give other children a chance. The goal is to give these children an opportunity to develop a passion for music and give them the foundation needed to nurture this passion and grow themselves in the process. We encourage anybody who has sufficient experience with piano to join our growing community of student teachers! You receive service hours for participating!

We do not meet on any dates in specific. Members submit their video before the monthly deadline and it is sent out to the event venues by the coordinator. There is one event per month.

Helping Notes
The meeting dates depend on the availability of the student and the child the student is teaching. There are 1-3 lessons per week. Lessons are taught for 45 min to 1 hour per week.

Some of our largest events include the semi-annual blood drive that HOSA holds in conjunction with the Red Cross and school-wide dress-up days to raise awareness for Red Ribbon Week. We also occasionally host speakers in different medical professions to help students broaden their knowledge of various healthcare professions. You do not have to be enrolled in the healthcare pathway or interested in a healthcare career to join HOSA- you simply have to have a heart for service and eagerness to participate! We cannot wait to meet you!

Under normal circumstances, HOSA meets every other Thursday morning.

The Wheeler Peaceful Place is a school-wide club dedicated to create a place where Wheeler Students can come to recharge, recenter, or to simply receive a nugget of peacefulness as they journey throughout their school year. Although COVID-19 has restricted our ability to meet in person, the Peaceful Place has begun an initiative to "Make Wheeler Beautiful" alongside the PTSA. Through this, we have been able to create a Zen Garden on campus and award participants with the chance to volunteer with their friends and fellow club members. Some of the online aspects of our club include our "Quotes of the Week" on our Instagram and our zoom meetings that create an environment in which we can talk about anything and everything to relieve stress/ anxiety. The Wheeler Peaceful Place is a perfect club for Freshman as it is centered around having a positive environment to meet new friends!!
