Broad and ongoing: I've seen LLMs for years, been fairly skeptical of a lot of auto-AI content underpinning most digital experiences, and found Midjourney and ChatGPT wildly irresponsible releases. The fact that the corpus is stolen content makes me furious on a daily basis.

I don't understand how in good faith ChatGPT and all other large LLMs have been accepted so immediately as assets to general life and education. Using LLM tech with your own data is a different matter, and I do think there's a place for that in research, in particular.

I have used a whole range. My experience has been that most of what I have used is limited in its outputs and is not actually providing me with anything new in terms of insights but can help with organising and building media etc. It remains to be seen what the value to education these tools have and how much hype is driving the adoption. My experiences have led me to feel that some of these tools are useful but that some generative models are not that useful and we could spend a lot of time trying to unpick what has been generated.

We used the I can't draw feature in padlet to get an AI generate image (access it via the pink icon with three dots when adding a new post). We asked students to tell us how they felt about copyright as an alternative to typing in the chat. It was great to see all the images. We asked them to include their prompt in the post. The image above shows 'overwhelmed'

I've used MS Designer for creating social media images and have found that useful. I've also used ChatGPT for outlining the structure of reports which I've written (though not the actual content - I wouldn't trust it for that!)

VBA Script

I got chat GPT to write a VBA script to fix up an Excel document. It was a complicated script that reformatted data renamed cells and removed unwanted rows ...I don't know VBA at all, still don't and that’s fine. I found it useful and made a good start out the gate. I did a fair bit of manual editing and refining and it seems to work fine.

I've gone from hating it to accepting our AI overlords and its quickly becoming my best friends. I've used it to design fitness routines, find new recipes, analyse sociological trends, recommend new music and more. The most success I've had is to summarise all my professional duties into a predictive model for where I should take my career.
