In chains, many people commit the crime of hypocrisy. But the most serious case of hypocrisy is the rebels hypocrisy. They say they want freedom and justice for all, but they own slaves. They want to be free from the king, but they still imprison people. Worse than the king imprisons them. If they wanted true freedom than they would give it to everybody not, just those who are free.

The article clearly states that the U.S. has been guilty of hypocrisy many times. The article makes this clear by telling about an example of one of the times when the U.S. committed hypocrisy. When Spanish ruled Cuba, the U.S said they wanted to help Cuba by sending over troops. But just did it so they could have the superior fruit company of the world. This shows hypocrisy because they said they wanted to help, but only did so out of the their own greed. And fruit companies in the caribbean probably suffered a big blow because of this action.

The motive, again, was purn 1898 President McKinley told Americans that his aim in invading Cuba was to liberate it from Spanish rule. The truth was that the United Fruit Company wanted to expel foreigners from the Caribbean so as to eliminate competition.

Connection beweteen the two articles

In both articles, they both commit hypocrisy. But are they similiar to each other. They actually are similar to one another. One way they connect is the reason why they were supposed to go to war. The rebels wanted to be free from the kings rule, but will not share the same freedom with slaves. This connects to the article because the U.S. said they wanted to free Cuba. Like the rebels. But really just wanted to fight for there own benefit. Much like how the rebels did in chains. Another similarity is the greed in both articles. In chains, the men went to war just to save some money on taxes. And they went to war and killed people just to stop these taxes. Like how the article said the U.S. went to war just to make some more money with their fruit company. In conclusion, these two articles are very similar in many different ways.
