Information security is about protecting all information, physical or digital, while cybersecurity is focused on any information that has to do with electronic systems and communications. Cybersecurity is more focused on protecting information from cyber-attacks and threats. Information security is about how authorized individuals access information that they have clearance for. Cybersecurity falls under the umbrella of information security. Emerging threats in the world of information security are more advanced cyberattacks, companies can prepare for this by upgrading their security systems or enabling multifactor authentication. To balance the need for information security and employee productivity it is to make sure employees clearly understand how to access what they need and don’t have to jump through unnecessary hoops.

Organizations effectively leverage MFA by making their businesses more secure and making it harder for hackers to intrude by using weak passwords. Some of the best MFA options are using touch identification or a one-time password that gets sent to your email or phone number.

Ethical concerns for using biometric data is that if the company is breached then there is very sensitive data that can be leaked for the hacker to take. To balance safety and privacy there needs to be laws set in place for what data can be used and strict enforcement if it does get leaked.

The main differences between white hat, gray hat, and black hat hackers are their motivations or intent. A white hat hacker is someone who legally hacks to find security vulnerabilities in software and networks. Black hat hackers are those who engage in illegal cybercrime operations and their intent is malicious. Gray hat hackers are a mix of both of these where they illegally look for vulnerabilities without the owner’s consent but will contact the owner if issues are found and need to be fixed.

White hat hackers are ethical security hackers usually those who are legally allowed to hack certain things and focus on identifying weaknesses in their systems. Black hat hackers are just hackers who hack others for things like financial gain, they are known to completely disrupt systems. Hacktivists are groups that work together to hack certain things as forms of protest or activism they usually want to inspire change or action.
