For printmaking, I investigated the realm of metamorphosis, more specifically focusing my exploration on the biological process of metamorphosis in the human condition.  The incorporation of plant life as part of the organ itself are symbolic of the natural processes the body undergoes throughout life, but they are also reflective of the deceptive quality  of metamorphosis. There are multiple mouths gasping in the image and they are arranged in the formation of a lung. This could potentially be a ceramic piece exploration the nature of my subject matter of the effects of illness on the human physically but more so mentally. 
This is what I imagine is happening inside the body of the person when they are riddle with infection. Their lungs struggle and quiver with every breath and I visualise all the little cells releasing and collecting air as being mouths opening and closing, gasping for breath. This is not only physically symbolism, but is reflective of the mental aggravation that is caused by being unable to carry out one of the bodies innate functions; breathing.

Technically, this piece is highly accomplished, especially considering Jennifer doesn't have a background in ceramics. There is variety is the techniques she has used and the marks shes makes while the cloth structure placed over the creatures head is particularly successful.
