If you struggle on something in this class, don't hesitate to email or schedule a zoom call with the teacher. She gives very great constructive advice. I know it may be hard to practice because most of us have very busy schedules. I suggest planning out your day on a planner of when you can practice. If you practice and manage your time wisely, this class is very fun! - Maya McCarty

No matter what, stay up to date with practice and the home work and always do the extra credit. Schedules can get busy and things come up that can cause you to not be able to do all the assignments so as long as you’re up to date with extra credit, you’ll be fine. But always read the modules because they are super helpful in growing your voice. But above all, remember to have fun and don’t stress yourself out too much. -Raleigh Young

There comes a time in every moment when a new pupil is forced to make that one key split second decision. Take a chance and risk it all or play it safe and suffer defeat. Has something like this ever made you realized you wanted to sing and it happened to you? If so, I’m here to help. The voice has multiple advantages other than speaking that you had something unique to offer the world if you could just get people to see it or hear it. When you’re feeling down or blue when you don’t know what to do. There’s a wonderful way you find to lift your spirits and pass the time. That moment is called singing and the human voice is the instrument that we have inside us. With the right amount of courage, dedication, practice and determination, it can be used as the soothing and legendary talent you’re achieving waiting to be earned by the right tone and sound in the history of voices.

My advice would be to set long term and short term goals and then within each goal maybe write steps to achieve the goal. Its always a good idea to set goals for yourself in order to grow as a person or even a singer. Without goals you dont really have a road paved before you on your journey to life. Its especially important if your a college student. If your goal is to practice sight singing , how about start with 10 minutes a day then increase it. You can improve by constantly raising that bar.

It is okay to be scared but I promise you have no reason to be. This class is a judgement free zone and it isn’t about having a stellar Ariana Grande voice, it’s about learning and growing together, getting comfortable with discomfort and imperfection. If you have the opportunity to do the online video chat lessons, I highly recommend you do so. I didn’t because of outside influences and really regret that, especially because I know that the feedback Michelle gives is amazing. Really, just don’t procrastinate, have fun and let go.

This is a fantastic class especially for a beginner! You will touch on everything from anatomy to breathing, and yodels to zzzzzz vocal exercises! Professor Coder is a fantastic teacher and although it’s a long to learn it’s manageable and easy to comprehend. She truly wants the best for her students and you can see the care in her teachings. I would take one of her classes again in a heartbeat! Have fun!

Try not to procrastinate as assignments can build up quickly. Also, take advantage of the mini lessons they're very helpful! Practice, practice, practice. Try to find time in the little moments of the day or dedicate a time frame for practicing. Have fun too, it's like learning a new sport, it'll take time to adjust to different ways of singing than you might be used to. Have fun learning!
