Christine wrote many different pieces of work. Le Livre de la cité dames (1405; The Book of the City of the Ladies) was about how women are known for their virtue and heroism at the time. Her is a passage from it: "After Lady Rectitude had told me all this, I answered her, 'Certainly, my lady, it seems to me an outstanding honor to the feminine sex to hear about so many excellent ladies. Everyone should be extremely pleased that, in addition to their other virtues, such great love could reside in a woman's heart.…Let Mathéolus and all the other prattlers who have spoken against women with such envy and falsehood go to sleep and stay quiet.'"(II.19.1). (Thierry Boucquey) Le Livre des trois vertus (1505; Book of Three Virtues) was the sequal to Le Livre de la cité des dames which compromise classification of women roles in the medieval society. It was a collection of moral instruction for women in the various social spheres. (EB Editors) She also wrote about the deceased King Charles: Le Livre des fais et bonnes meurs de sage roy Charles V( 1404; Book fo the Deeds and Good Morals of the Wise King Charles V). (EB Editors)

She is very famous for being one of the first female writers. Her first pieces of writing were poems about ballades of her lost love, her husband, which were written in his memory. She continued to write in Ballads, Rondeau, Lays, and Complaints. (EB Editors) Ballads are poems or songs that are narrated in a story through short stanzas. Rondeau are between 10 to 15 lined poems that are divided into three stanzas of five, three and five lines. (Glossary of Poetic Terms) Lays are short romances. (The Editors of Encyclopaedia Britannica) Complaints are a formerly popular variety of a poem. (The Editors of Encyclopaedia Britannica) With these types of writing it helped her express her feelings but with grace and sincerity. Even though she wrote in French her writings show a similarity with Latin prose and traditions. (Thierry Boucquey)
