Hosted by <a href="https://www.orau.org/arc-ornl/default.html"><strong>Oak Ridge Associated Universities</strong></a> in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, this program is a gateway to science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) in the Appalachian Region. Many participants come from economically distressed counties and often gain their first exposure to applied science and STEM education through this experience.</div>]]></description>

Students develop and implement their own business ideas, refine and prototype those ideas, and deliver a shark-tank-style pitch to a panel of entrepreneurs.          <description><![CDATA[<p><strong>Emerging Engineers</strong></p><p>The Emerging Engineers program is a week-long summer program that provides high school students with a variety of immersive engineering experiences designed to educate them about the engineering field and inspire them to study and work in engineering.</p><p>The Emerging Engineers program is designed to inspire future engineers to create cutting edge solutions to global problems.</p><p>This summer program is held at UVA Engineering. It is open to high school students (rising students in grades 9-12) and is free for accepted applicants.</p><p>The program offers hands-on engineering activities, lab tours, guest speakers, student panel discussions and community-building activities.</p><p>The program offers two engineering tracks to explore: Biomedical Engineering and Materials Science and Engineering.</p><p>Emerging Engineers builds on the success of the Bio-Med Tech-Girls program.
