The more we understand about addiction, the better we can treat it, and that includes understanding the effects of drugs on the human body. The consequences of substance abuse go far beyond financial ruin and relationship breakdown, with very real connections between drug use and damage to the body and brain. Awareness of these connections is integral to the road to recovery and could be a motivating factor for many of those in bondage to their illness.
