https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWInoFsaB_I
Tteokguk, or rice cake soup, is a meal traditionally eaten to celebrate New Year's Day. It's a symbolic meal because the soup was not commonly available--rice was unavailable to a majority of Koreans. Thus, this meal, which contains the meaning of prosperity and purity, is only eaten when the New Year arrives. I really dislike tteokguk, but I still appreciate the culture and try to eat it on the appropriate days.

The tradition of the peking duck has a history of more than 400 years. It is cooked whole and then shredded and traditionally served with mandarin pancakes and side dishes. It can be eaten as a everyday meal or even for special occasions such as New Years, where many families like to start off the new year by eating this soup becuase it is said to welcome the new year and bring good luck/fortune! Since this dish is from Okinawa and not the maindland it isn't really found here in the US, unlike sushi and ramen which are pretty common dishes served here. This dish is one my favorites and has become a comfort food for me in the past years.

We don't know when and why this tradition started. However, Koreans used to serve a meal with this food and rice wine on rainy days from a long time ago. According to a myth, the sound of frying jeon is similar to the sound of rain. It is also a food that is usually eaten as a side dish or as a snack or as a side dish. Also, it is a side dish that can be easily found during Korean holidays. Surprisingly, even people who dislike kimchi can eat this food without any difficulty due to its moderately greasy, spicy taste and crispy texture. Also, it tastes better if you dip it in soy sauce. I also make and eat food from time to time. Of course, even when the weather is nice, I make and eat when I think of it.

Bibimbap can be eaten at any time, it is not a special holiday meal.

Bibimbap sets out of "American cuisine" because you cant get this in American restaurants. American restaurants usually sell, burgers and fries. However Korean foods usually have always have rice or noodles.

I have tried this dish numerous of times and in my experience of this dish , it was amazing. You were able to taste all of the fresh vegetables, rice, spice, and meat. Its especially good when its homemade.

Kimchi jigae is a dish that represents Korean culture. It’s eaten as a daily meal but what makes it special is the ingredients that are used to make it like kimchi, which is a traditional side dish itself. Kimchi, being one of the Korean foods that most symbolizes the culture is fermented and eaten in almost every meal. The meal itself has a spicy taste with other ingredients like tofu and pork(optional) as well as scallion. It’s a healthy and delicious meal that I enjoy eating. It’s my favorite food, and I eat it almost every week.

These are not typically a special holiday meal and are rather regular snacks. It is often eaten as a snack bought from street vendors or can be bought from the grocery store and be made at home. This is different from similar meals in American cuisine as these type of pancakes are eaten more as snacks rather than eaten as a breakfast item, which is common in the United States. I have eaten this dish may times growing up and I enjoy it.

It is cut into small slices so it can be eaten as a snack or as a meal for lunch. If I had to compare it to an American food, I would say it is common in the way that sandwiches are common in America since it is a regular food. However, the preparation of the meal sets it apart from American cuisine as it can be tricky to make for the first time. It also includes vegetables that you wouldn't usually see in American food like takuan, a pickled radish. I eat this dish often. This can be a special holiday meal, but usually, it can be eaten at any time of the year. It's very different from "American cuisine" because American food is usually greasy and thick, yet this traditional meal in Korea is not thick or creamy or greasy. I always eat this dish every time I go out to eat with my family. It's my favorite Korean dish because of its unique, refreshing, and spicy taste.

This video shows numerous Greek dishes, but from 11:40 through 16:35, BBC star Ainsley Harriot prepares two eggplant dishes, one being grilled eggplant stuffed with tomato, feta, sun-dried tomatoes, Greek Basil, and olive oil. This is a traditional starter dish, and really sets away from traditional American cuisine in that it strictly contains vegetables, whereas most American cuisine contains meat in one way or another. The only American dish I think comes close to this is Eggplant Parmesan, which although has lots of the same ingredients, is prepared very differently and really comes from Italian cuisine. I've been eating this dish more recently as a quick nightly dinner, though my family prepares it with an "Italian flare," by making it similar to an insalata capresse, setting a slice of eggplant on the bottom, a slice of tomato on top, and a slice of mozzarella. This is then grilled, and usually added with a thick balsamic vinegar dressing, Greek extra virgin olive oil, salt, pepper, and basil.
