         <description><![CDATA[<div>Indonesia<br>1.&nbsp;Illegal deforestation. Growing bamboo sustainably and selling them for money which gives the locals income. The community is promoted by the government which might influence other communities to do the same. The bamboo is used to the maximum. National strategy to develop the bamboo forests and create 10000 bamboo villagers<br>2. Bamboo forests are carbon sinks and absorb 50 tons of carbon dioxide per year. There can be role models from villages which can influence other villages.<br>3.&nbsp;The no. of bamboo villages the country aims to build is a bit too many and may not be possible due to the ever-changing climate.</div>]]></description>

Bamboo can absorb 50 tons of carbon per year and bamboo is a type of grass that grows up to 1 meter a day. <br>3. If the people they patner with live in different countries, they will think that the bamboo should be sold at a different price as they do not consider the maintainance etc. so at what rate do they sell the bamboo for such that both parties agree?</div>]]></description>

Deforestation in order to gather more resources such as timber for housing or furniture<br>Harvesting and growing bamboo allows locals to sell them for income and use the bamboo to build housing for the villagers to reside in, instead of chopping down trees in the other forests.<br>2. Bamboo forests are able to absorb a few tons of carbon per year, which can act as sustainable carbon sinks, reducing the amount of carbon footprint that people leave, and mitigating climate change.<br>3. This method of harvesting bamboos, may not be accepted by everyone as some may still want to harvest timber from conventional forests.</div>]]></description>

Bamboo also grows very quickly, making it a very good way to slow down global warming as it means that it can take in more carbon way quicker than other plants.<br><br>3. In sec 1 we learnt about greenhouse gases. So to connect those things together, when we throw away for example plastic, we will contribute to the greenhouse gases as when they burn the plastic, toxic gases are released into the environment.</div><div><br></div><div>Q2. I realised that a lot of things can be recycled into something else. For example, I would have never thought of using computer keyboards to make a bag like the one in the video.</div><div><br></div><div>Q3. Deforestation was a problem in Indonesia therefore the village locals resorted to planting bamboo forests as these bamboo forests are sustainable and they can earn income from planting bamboo. To protect the forests, unsustainable harvesting of bamboo is illegal and the locals hope to be able to grow up to 1000 hectares or more of bamboo in the future.<br>2. These bamboo forests are great sinks for carbon and can help reduce carbon emissions in Indonesia. Mass deforestation will cause excessive amounts of carbon dioxide to be released therefore the felling of bamboo must be controlled. Bamboo also are easier to harvest and more environmentally friendly than regular timber.<br>3. Some people might still prefer timber or other materials over bamboo as they are more used to it, or might still resort to illegal harvesting of bamboo.</div>]]></description>
