1. The Mekong River is located in Southeast Asia.
2. The Mekong is used for Irrigation, fisheries, power generation, transportation, industrial and domestic supply.
3. I would drink from this body of water but it would be very limited.
4. The water quality is becoming dramatically degraded from upstream to downstream in many parts of the basin and evidence indicates that the diversity and productivity of freshwater species and ecosystems is also adversely affected by the contaminants in the water.
5. The water got this way from fast reproduction in humanity and climate change also plays a factor.
6. http://www.touropia.com/most-important-rivers-in-the-world/

1.) The Yukon river is located in Northwest North America. It runs through British Columbia, The Yukon Territory, and Alaska.
2.) The Yukon is famous for it's annual King Salmon run. The fishing industry contributes in a big way to the economy surrounding the Yukon. The Yukon also runs through cities like White Horse and Tanana, so it's an important transportation route.
3.) The Yukon seems pretty natural and non-polluted , so I would drink from it.
4.) The Yukon is very clean and lacks any major contamination. Though some fish have been found with mercury in them.
5.) The Yukon's mercury levels stem from climate change, as it spills mercury into the arctic climate.
6.)

1) The River of Thames is located in Southern England, and runs straight through London.
2) This water source is used for many things including recreation, and perhaps the most important would be trade, and the Thames has been used for trade since 54 BC to the modern era.
3) According to the DWI of London, it is indeed safe to drink water from the River of Thames, although not recommended.
4) Currently the only contaminates in the water are pollution from ships and things people of London throw into the river. However, 150 years ago, the river was so polluted by sewage waste that there was a mass cleanup.
5) It was like this because there was no sewage system
6)

Orinoco River

1. The Orinoco River is a major river flowing through South America in which starts in the Guiana Highlands and opens into the Atlantic Ocean through a marshy delta. It flows in a wide arc through rainforests and savannas (Ilanos). This river creates a frontier between Venezuela and Columbia as it is around 1, 600 miles long. This river is known for it's ability to navigate easily. It is one of longest rivers in South America.
2. This river is mainly used as a route for transportation as it passes through forests that would be difficult for humans to pass through otherwise. Plus, it is easy to navigate most of the way. The Piaroa people use this water source to grow vegetables and catch fish for food.
3. No, because this water is mainly used for fishing, growing food, and transportation purposes, not drinking. There is so much pollution and debris from mines nearby that the water is not purified to drink. The people living along this river do not drink it because it is not filtered, so usually they have to get their water brought into them by trucks from the government.
4. There is a lot of bacteria, dirt, weeds, dangerous animals, and mineral deposits from mining, including iron ore and vanadium, are all found inside which makes it dangerous to drink. Plus, Venezuela does not have enough money to filtrate the water for this river so now it is used for transportation.
5. There are many mines around the outline of the river that cause pollution and mineral deposits to contaminate the water. It also runs near major cities in Venezuela, so there is pollution around those parts also.
6.

Zambezi River
1. The Zambezi River is the fourth longest river in Africa and the longest east flowing river in Africa. It flows through six countries on its way from its source in north western part of Zambia to the Indian Ocean.
2. The river is home to about 40 million people who rely on the river for drinking water, fisheries, irrigation, hydropower production, mining and industry, ecosystem maintenance, and other uses.
3. I probably wouldn't drink from this water, because of the many things it's used for.
4. The water pollution from the fisheries, hydropower production, mining and industry, and ecosystem maintenance has led to the containing of unsafe and undrinkable water.
5. The water got this from the multiple people in Zambezi using the water, animals, bacteria, and the other factors listed above.
6.

The Seine is located northwest of Dijon in northeastern France in the Langres plateau, flowing through Paris and into the English Channel at Le Havre (and Honfleur on the left bank).
2. The water of the Seine is an important resource for central and western France. Electric power stations, thermal and nuclear, pull their cooling water from the river. Half the water used in the Paris region-and three quarters of the water used in the area between Rouen and Le Havre is drawn from the river.
3. No I would not, because it's filthy and contaminated with all kinds of chemicals, metals, and bacteria.
4.

The Seine's water is polluted with high levels of heavy metals, nutrients, sediment, and bacteria. Heavy Metals include copper, cadmium, lead, and zinc.

Rio de la Plata
1. Rio de la Plata or River of Silver, is located between the South American countries Argentina and Uruguay.
2. The economic usefulness of these river systems is not commensurate with the area that they drain. Economic uses to which these rivers might lend themselves, such as irrigation or hydroelectric power, are difficult to achieve. The swamps of the Pantanal and the Chaco long made agriculture a virtual impossibility in these areas. The economic development of the upper basin has been hindered by limited natural resources. Paraguay and adjacent parts of Brazil and Argentina are virtually devoid of mineral deposits. Industry, therefore, is limited to processing agricultural products
3. I would not drink from the Rio de la Plata because the river neglects natural resources. The river has lots of chemicals that pollute the water as seen below. The river also has an abundance of boat traffic causing fuels to pollute the water.
4. Even though a large number of people are dependent on the waters of the Rio de la Plata and its rivers for their domestic water consumption, the pollution of these same waters from industrial wastes and sewage, as well as pesticide and fertilizer run-offs from agricultural lands, has led to a sharp decline in the water quality.
5. The coasts of the Río de la Plata are the most densely populated areas of Argentina (Buenos Aires) and Uruguay (Montevideo). Due to pollution from these areas and the abundance of river sediment, the river is usually a brown color. Fortunately there are currently several efforts underway to restore the river and protect its unique wildlife.

Nile river

1. The Nile river runs south from the Mediterranean Sea into Egypt and threw Uganda in north Africa. Its one of the largest and most well known rivers around the world.
2. The Nile's water is used to irrigate crops, feed people and for medical uses. The soil is extremely rich and fertile so that is used as well for farming crops.
3. Yes but only if it is boiled for safety and made clean just in case because Egypt is very low on water because it is a very hot and desert like place. This means the Nile is a major source of water from them so it is used a lot. the water is mineral rich too. It is slowly becoming more polluted every year do to things such as industrial waste water or other pollutants.
4. elements in the Nile Rivers water include industrial waste water that could contain all kinds of chemicals and oils. It has also been damaged by agricultural drainage which took away a lot of the water the river had before.
5. It got this way because of industrial business such as construction, cosmetic making and developing other things that could have toxins and chemicals. oil has been spilled in the river and has been drained so much for people to use the water that it has shrank from its original size. There is also a serious air pollution problem in Egypt that makes it worse.
