I felt like a fish in a tree when I tried out for the cross country team when I was in 9th grade. I was so excited to start the season but after the first practice I felt defeated. All of the people around me were these runners who didn't seem to get tired. I felt slow and weak compared to them. I kept running and pushed myself. By the end of the season I could run 3 miles in 26 minutes. Over the next 3 years I got a personal record of 3 miles in 22 minutes, I became the captain for the varsity team, and I helped others to keep pushing through even when they wanted to give up.
