Eminem for me is the first rapper I remember hearing and it was on MTV at a Burger King. Although I didn't really know him cause I was like 5 but in 2010 he dropped Recovery which is my favourite album of all time and has one of my favourite songs of all time 'Not Afraid' and with this song I was able to use the lyrics to help me get through my own situations I was going through. It wasn't until later in life when I understood the meaning of production that I could hear a lot of what went into making the beat. There is quite a bit I can relate to with Eminem's life in terms of being bullied, family issues, feeling like an outsider. Em was inspired by a whole lot of hip-hop pioneers such as Run-DMC, LL Cool J, D.O.C, 2Pac, Biggie and more. Eminem spent a lot of his childhood reading comic books because he was interested in story telling and wanted to become a comic book artists before discovering hip-hop. At around 14, Em and his friend Proof snuck into the neighbouring high school for freestyle battles and they would also go to the Hip-Hop shop on Saturdays which is considered Ground Zero for the Detroit scene.

Not only do we share the same birthday but this man helped build Eminem's career and he has also done beats not only for other rappers but artists like Mary.J.Blige and one of the reasons for the west coast funk sounds and mainly G-funk. Something that Dre has done that inspires my creative process is he pushes people to do the best they have ever done like with 2Chainz for the remix of the song Chloraseptic to the point where 2Chainz said that he(2Chainz) wasn't Em (NK. (2022, March 21). 2 Chainz felt Eminem’s presence working with Dr. Dre. In his teen years, he got to join world class wrecking cru and his new moniker was inspired by basket baller Julius "Dr.J.Erving" and Grandmaster Flash. The song The Adventures of Grandmaster Flash on the Wheels of Steel by Grandmaster Flash is something else that inspired Dre. Not only that but he may of been inspired by his parents as they were both into music.

Chip in 2008/09 was the first time I heard a rapper on some pop tunes and he inspired a number of UK artists and is one of the reasons for UK rap being known along with the likes of Stormzy. This was kind of why in later years I've been considering reaching out and exploring all genres to produce. He started rapping at 13/14 years old and ended up meeting UK rapper Wiley at 16 who was one of his inspirations and so was Dizzee Rascal. He also has songs with both artists.

Wiley learned to fusion UK garage and hip-hop together in the early 2000's and then went on to not only reach the top of UK's charts for several decades but to claim himself as the godfather of grime. Richard Cowie Jr was born in East London and according to his biography on allmusic.com his dad was a reggae musician and "introduced him to early hip-hop as well as the drums, and he began to DJ, rap, and produce music as a teenager." In 2007 Wiley introduced Chip to Tim Westwood and from there Chip got peoples attention although after their song together 'Reload', they ended up having an altercation but later on it was resolved (CHIPMUNK.

Eminem's career in music was solidified when he saw the music video to LL Cool J's song I'm Bad and around 2008, Em prank called the radio station that LL Cool J was on and gave LL a challenge for name that song in which Em rapped LL's lyrics to him. Not only that but Eminem recently inducted LL into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and also performed LL's songs with him. In an interview with LL, Eminem said he was surprised when Cool J's most iconic song 'Mamma said knock you out' because of the time since LL dropped his last album and how much rap had changed since then. In the same video Em listed LL as one of the few artists that wanted him to rap because something about their music spoke to him (LL Cool J Archive. (2022, May 29). Eminem talks about his idol LL Cool J. YouTube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W5Dkaykhr7g).

In a touching tribute to 2Pac in 'Paper' magazine (that no longer exists), Eminem said to the readers to go listen to Pac's song 'If I die 2nite'. Em stated the reason for why the song is his favourite "It's how he rhymes. That alliteration, those internal rhymes, that connection each syllable has to the beat—this is what inspired a young Eminem to develop the most poetic flow in hip-hop during his time". A year after this song released, Eminem dropped his first album 'infinite' in which listeners could hear this 2Pac songs' influence. During his set on Shade45, Em announced the next song that was going to be playing and called 2Pac the greatest songwriter of all time and quoted a part from the song and explained why he liked it so much.

In 2021 Dre and Grandmaster Flash met up at Dre's house where Dre had shown him something in which Flash said "that the project will apparently have an asteroid-sized impact on the culture." Grandmaster Flash was the first DJ to manipulate records in the forward, backward, and counterclockwise motion and he invented distinct DJ techniques such as scratching, cutting, backspin, and punch phrasing. Without these not only would a lot of DJ's not exist along with producers but a lot of iconic songs Dre has made with scratching involved such as 'My name is' and 'F tha Police'.
