Life isn’t as easy as we may think it is. While others are exposed to the truth of the world way before others are, we all come to see at some point the truth of things. We my not know everything, but what we do know can have a toll on how we experience life and just how much satisfaction we get from it. The truth brings us more agony then it does pleasure and that’s why we should be ignorant of what is going on to make the most out of our lives.

Agony isn’t good for the brain. Agony can make us do all kinds of things in the moment without realizing just how bad they are for us and others. In the Disney+ original show, “WandaVision”, the main character Wanda, is heartbroken from the death of her boyfriend, Vision.. She creates a fake world that plays out what her and Visions life would be like if he was still here, but the previous residents are under a mind spell and have no way of escaping unless Wanda removes them from the spell. She later finds out that the body of Vision is being used to make a weapon to destroy her and this fake world. After finding this out, Wanda does everything she can to keep this world going. The events that go down show us just how much people try to shield their agony and don’t want to come to the terms of the truth. The truth is a heavy burden on the mind and we are unsure of how to take it or what to even do with it because we weren’t taught what to do with it. That’s one of thee truths that gets revealed to us after the fact. No one is here to help us work out the truth. That is something we have to do on our own We have to find a way to make ourselves happy when we know just how bad things are or can get because life is what you get. You cant change what happens to you, but you can definitely build off and try to direct it to be something better.

The world is a cruel place. That’s a fact. But, we cant change what events happen. We can only use them to make us who we are and sometimes it can turn out good or it can turn out bad. Whatever the result, we know it comes from knowing something we didn’t want to know. We are not shielded from the truth because there is too much to hide and not enough people to protect us from it. That’s why its up to us to deal with it.

How does one know what information is detrimental to an individual and what is better left unsaid? The truth is that it is not always better to be ignorant rather than knowing the truth because every single person is completely different from others and withholding valuable and oftentimes emotional information can diminish an individual's agency.

Allowing a person to live in ignorance does not always protect them, instead oftentimes doing such thing will interfere with the power they have over their own lives. A great example of this is seen in the novel "The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks", when the author depicts how the scientific community withholds from the Lacks family that the HeLa cells belonged to Henrietta. The secrecy of the scientific community not only harmed one individual, but it affected the whole Lacks family, because it prevented them from getting emotional closure from Henrietta's death. While some may argue that the scientific community's purpose was to cover their unethical actions and others may argue that the real intent was to protect Henrietta's identity as was the scientific professional's duty under the Hippocratic Oath, this brings up the problem of giving an organization too much power over an individual. By allowing the scientific community to decide what information gets disclosed and what doesn't, the Lack's family was denied the option of whether or not they consented to the HeLa cells research. This in turn had other consequences because the family was denied the right to sue for lack of consent, and they were kept from any economic recompense which may have been rightfully theirs after all of Henrietta's contributions to scientific research which emphasizes the negative consequences of withholding important information from others.

With this in mind, people can always argue their silence on certain topics was meant to protect the individuals affected, but the truth is there is no way to prove such intentions. In granting people the power to decide what can be kept from others, we are limiting the agency of others which contributes to the power imbalance between large corporations and individual rights. Can we really stand for such manipulation?

Although some may argue that staying ignorant will lead to a blissful life, one should not live this way because it is very selfish to do so. Acting ignorant is extremely immoral because it can lead to harming others, even if one does not mean to do so. Contrary to Habyarimana's argument, it is not better to live in ignorance than to know the truth because it will only lead to the pain and suffering of more people.
In today's world, ignorance has only led towards the downfall of human society. In the early months of 2020, former president Trump knew that there was a deadly virus plaguing the country, yet he decided to feign ignorance and do nothing about it. Due to his ignorance, millions of people lost their jobs, their houses, and even their lives. As of March 2021, over half a million people have died in the United States due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This number is quickly growing each day as an effect of his ignorant actions from almost a year ago. All of these deaths could have been prevented if he simply would have acknowledged the severity of the deadly pandemic. He downplayed the virus and refused to take into consideration the harm that it was causing the country. His job was to lead the country, to protect everyone from harm, and to help everyone overcome their struggles. However, he did not fulfill any of his responsibilities. Instead, he turned a blind eye to the facts and statistics in order to not face the consequences from his lack of actions. If people continue to stay ignorant about today's current events, it will only lead towards more harm and more deaths that can easily be prevented in the first place.
To conclude, ignorance is not bliss. Staying ignorant is one of the worst things that a human can do. Ignorance is selfish, and it does not take into considerations the effects that it can have on others. If one does decide to stay ignorant instead of learning the truth, it will only lead towards the suffering of other innocent people.

What is better living happily in a world where the truth is unsaid or in a world physically and mentally harming but the truth is spoken. It is better to ignore and live in bliss than live in agony because thus knowing causes harm to the person and the situation.
To live ignorant but in bliss is better than to know the truth and suffer because to know the truth only causes more pain. In the case of Henrietta's family, in The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, they would only suffer more if they knew what happened to their mom. Rebecca Skloot wrote the book in the name of justice to speak up thus this not happening to anyone else however does it speak for justice towards the feelings of the Lacks? How would they feel when they found out what they did to Henrietta? The book's purpose was to tell the story of the Lack's history and story with true events that cause pain to the Lacks. A feeling that could have been avoided but wasn't yet what changed? the feelings? The events? The fact that Henrietta was taken advantage of and still passed away? The feelings of the doctors? No, none of those questions would have changed if the truth was spoken or withheld however it would and did cause more pain for the Lacks to know the truth. Another example, the Tuskegee study, society only found out after years passed by and what happened? An "I'm sorry" from the president of the money given to the family members who suffered when told their husbands were only used and passed away. Why does the truth matter if no change is going to happen? There are still many unknown studies that are coming to the surface so why cause suffrage to the Lack's and Tuskeegee's family members if similar cases are still going to happen? The president should have not apologized if he knew for sure that his doctors were not going to commit more crimes. The family members could have lived better and happier if they would have not know what cruel things were done to their own and that those cruel things are still happening.
In conclusion, society said that they were sorry and that it should have never happened yet it happened again and will continue because the truth doesn't create a change yet only brings pain to the people involved. Society said nothing like the Tuskegee study was ever going to be let happen again yet years after Henrietta has also take advantage, so why tell the truth when the truth hurts and creates no change to help ease the pain.

While it is preferred to live a life pain free, it is better to know the truth and live in agony than to be blissfully ignorant because people can know how to take certain steps to live a life even a little less painful.

By living in pain because one knows the truth is better since that person can still take specific actions in order to make their lives even a little less agonizing. To put it in a modern perspective, the COVID-19 global pandemic has put many lives at risk and even took away millions of lives in a rapid pace. The painful truth is that the virus can be very contagious, can destroy a loved one’s health, and the effects of the virus makes the economy and the mental health of people in a worse condition. However, with the information people know and give out, they can take certain steps to decrease the spread of the virus, better their mental health with specific actions, and even appreciate family time and be grateful that they are alive. If a person is ignorant about this pandemic, it’s most probable that they would not take the precautious steps to decrease the spread of the virus, possibly even getting the virus themselves, and have their mental and physical health destroyed. A person living with the truth, no matter how painful it is, knows that they have to wear a mask and distance themselves 6 feet apart from other people in order to reduce the spread of the virus. They know the symptoms of the virus and that they should get tested for the virus if any symptoms show. A person living with the truth knows to appreciate quality time with people because it’s recommended to be limited time to help lower the spread of the virus. They know what exercises and activities to do to prevent their mental and physical health from worsening. A person living in the truth is a responsible, contributing citizen of the society. Really, there is no being blissfully ignorant. The truth will be out in some way, some time, someday, but it will always show. Because when one is ignorant about something, they are being a danger to themselves and others and that danger will just hit that person, and it will be even more painful because that person never saw that danger coming. A person living with the truth is making this society better by taking the necessary actions to improve it for the future.

The idea that “ignorance is bliss” has become outdated and insensitive. In this current day and age, it has become more important than ever to be aware of the truth and facts no matter how hurtful or uncomfortable it may make us. With the rise of the internet and awareness of social movements, it is critical to know what side to stand on, as well as who and what deserves support. With movements such as Black Lives Matter (BLM), people as a whole need to see what is happening within their own communities. Seeing Black men and women, oftentimes including children, being harassed and beaten by the police is excruciating, and choosing to be ignorant will only allow the issue of police brutality to grow stronger. Being oblivious to such a major conflict silences those who are affected by the unnecessary actions of police who take advantage of their power. However, when one chooses to listen to the problems BLM wants to fix, they become educated on how the community as a whole can hold each other accountable to prevent such incidents, such as racially motivated violence. Despite some individuals believing that protests have done more harm than good, protests are the only way to get society to even mention these issues. Yes, talking about race and privilege can turn into an uncomfortable topic, but it needs to be done in order to take a step in the right direction. Already, BLM has allowed for defunding the police to move that funding into youth and social services, as well as reforming the police with updated ways on how to encounter possible suspects. The reality is, hiding the truth is almost never beneficial and will always find a way to come out. It is better to face the facts head-on instead of being blissfully ignorant

Habyarimana makes the argument that it is better to be ignorant to the truth in order to live in bliss. I believe that knowing the truth is better, as it helps us prevent future disasters from happening to others.

Knowing the truth helps prevent future disasters from happening. Currently, the world's climate has gotten hotter, making natural disasters have a greater and harsher effect than they normally do. For example, in 2020, many homes were burned in Oregon during the wildfires on the west coast, and killed at least 19 people in California. The destruction these fires caused is a strong example of the effects of climate change. However, many people continued to believe climate change isn't real. Fast forward to 2021, and Texas faces a strong cold front for a week, with temperatures below freezing and many without power or water because of it. Many people died, including an 11 year old boy who was trying to keep his brother warm. If more people believed in the truth about climate change, they could have worked to prepare the state for a natural disaster such as the cold front, and worked to stop the climate from getting hotter. Not believing in the truth of climate change has continuously caused more and more death in our society, creating a harsher reality overall. Therefore, believing in the truth can help move people to prevent disasters, or at least minimize the damage caused by them.

Another example of harm from living in bliss can be seen with the response of Americans to the covid 19 crisis. Many people refuse to believe that covid 19 exists, and refuse to wear masks to prevent the spread of the virus. Due to this refusal to believe in the truth, the United States has the most amount of covid cases in the world. Over 500,000 people have died from the virus and millions still have the virus. Despite all of this evidence that people should wear masks to prevent the spread of the virus, many continue to not wear masks. Even the leaders of certain states have not required people to not wear masks. For example, in March 2021, Governor Greg Abbott actually lifted a mandate that required people to wear masks in the state of Texas. This is right after Houston, Texas was confirmed to have all variants of the virus that a person could get. This continuous denial of using what works against the covid virus is causing more and more people to get it, despite having all the resources to fight against it. Continuing to deny the truth will result in more people dying, and prevent us from moving past the covid 19 issue in the future.

Habyarimana's idea does portray what would be an easy life. This life would be free of worry and stress. However, even in this ignorance, the truth is vividly shown to others, and leads to a harsher world rather than one where the truth is accepted. Therefore, living with the truth is better than living in bliss, as the truth can prevent more horrific realities in the future.

The truth is sometimes complicated, and can come with its consequences. According to Bangamiki Habyarimana, the truth can affect one's level of happiness and should, therefore, be avoided to live a blissful life. Despite the fact that knowing a truth can be hurtful, it is better to know the truth and be informed than have a false perception of the world around you.

There are many issues in today's current world, which many people prefer to be oblivious to. These issues include but are not limited to, climate change, equity, and COVID-19. Despite the serious consequences that these issues have had in many communities, some people still ignore their role in helping to find a solution by disregarding the truth. The blissful ignorance of one person can result in the pain and agony of many more. If people accepted the truth and took responsibility for their actions, many of these painful truths could become something of the past. In Texas, Governor Greg Abbott lifted the pandemic precautions that were in place to help limit the spread of COVID-19. Many people regarded this with glee, ignoring that they still have a role to play in this larger issue. By neglecting this truth, they are jeopardizing the health of their communities, which would in turn result in a higher amount of cases, worsening the situation and making the truth last longer and become more painful.

If people were to accept the truth, and work to better the situations around them, living in bliss would not be far from reality. By taking accountability, we will not be benefiting at the expense of others and, instead, will be able to find a balance between bliss and hurtful truths by working to improve the conditions around us.

| [ Is the life more blissful to have the truth or be ignorant? In this world the truth has harm many but also being ignorant has harm many in history. According to Bangambiki Habyarimana, the truth can harm people we love and should be avoided to have a bliss but not all the time is good to conceal the truth by how we are ignoring people life's. Even thought truth hurts the people deserve to know and have information that would benefit us even with the agony. According to Bangambiki Habyarimana, the truth is needed by how they are valued to be part of the information that can be important. But in this dilemma it is crossing the line of decisioning to tell the truth or hiding it by how telling the truth can inflict pain to the people. But hiding is as worse by how you are telling the m lies to the people making them feel betrayed. Saying by how telling the truth can be of help to how they can get have time to plan things and see where they are at that by hiding it is only giving them false hope on something that will never happened. This is seen in "Being Mortal" by Atul Gawande when he is telling the story of his father relationship with doctor he observed when he was being treated for cancer. For example the relationship of the doctor and the father was based on some lies by how the doctor was telling that by the procedure he will be back to his routing with no pain. The father of Atul having hopes went through he procedure without information of what is really happening to prepare for unpredictable event that did came to pass he died before the doctor predicted for him. This took away the time to talk of plans if he were to die that made it hard to plan for his funeral. This example shows of how telling the truth is important by how by telling the truth by how the realistic point of view on what is really happening. This will cause the lie of the person to not be bliss by how they will be hesitant and will not trust other. This is seen in the "Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks" where many black people don't trust many doctors due to how they never tell them what they are doing to them that cause to may misunderstanding and mistrust with doctors and patients. This is similar by how Henrietta body was not being respected when doing the treatment of chemotherapy was harmful " At that point, the radiation seemed like nothing more than an inconvenience. Henrietta's Bleeding stop, and if she felt sick from the treatments, she never mentioned it."(47). As by how they were not informing of the "Warning patients about fertility loss before cancer treatment was standard practice at Hopkins"(47). This standard practice that the doctors did with cancer patients shows of how they are doing procedures to the patient body that can harm them in their life not respecting the effects the patient are suffering due to the radiation causing them pain by the treatment not mentioning that they hide the truth of the side effects of the treatment they are having. Hiding the facts of what will happen to their bodies to the patients is disrespecting the patient will on what can be done and how it will affect their everyday life moving forward. Preventing telling the truth cause pain by how they were lost and confuse on what is really happening as seen can help prepare for unexpected thing in the journey even if it will be hard but you will not cause worry to loves one not being able to tell what is happening bringing more agnosy to their life. In conclusion telling the truth is more valuable than hiding it due to fear of causing agony to loved one by how they can prepare and live a life of bliss with no regret. The truth has to be more valued in our society by how they can show the respect of the information and person to not cause them pain by lies that only brought pain and not relief the love one of pain. This will be significant by how the people will not be hiding the truth and will not be betraying the trust of the people have in other living a life where is more bliss than worry and hesitant of everyone. ]

Legacy has been identified as a serious name. Every single family has a legacy and the true question is how will you surpass it. The story of Henrietta Lacks has shown how signs of legacy can make a family stand out of fall in the shadows of one.

In reality the fact is a legacy has the full capable power of ruininf families and freinships. We all look at legacy diffretn but yet we dont stop to think at legacys as either good or bad. The fact of the matter is we take interpretations diffrently. An example could be that of Hitler being known as one of the hated mans alive for his mass genocides he commited upon innocent humans. Additionally following such up steps of Fidel Castro but in reality it is important that we look at everything as the fact of what it is, A legacy good or bad can be over accomplished. In reality there is so much that we can do to do step that can change legacys and how they may later have impacts on our lives today. Yet now we all stuggle with insicurities and other people puting us down to the point of absoulty demolishing us. We grow up with such a fear of not being able to actually move forward and have a resentments that we will never be that good when it comes to actually being part of a legacy. Yet what we must know is that regardless at the end of the day we have to keep mpoving forward or else who else will do what we are capable of. I have had the legacy of having family mmebers work hard to become busissness women and doctor. My fmaily has very much worked in many fields where there is a big challenge to get a role, yet theu never gave up. Its a hard place to actually step up in but in reality it is only hard if I make it so. I want to be able to move forward and have advancements in my future and I have decided that I will in every way possible and be able to accomplish my dreams. It may not be as big but the reality is if I keep trying to fill into someone elses shoes I cant and wotn be able to. There is so much that can happen to be me and I know i may eventually struggle with life trying to move forward, but the fact is that I am prepared for such events to occur.

In conclusion, a legacy is a trash saying because now its used to shame people and the fact is not many people know that. They waste their lives trying to be someone they were just not meant to be at all which is very upsetting and discouraging to me. Peronally I made it my goal and achivement to be abke to move forward with myself and my dream in order to to make myself happy

While it’s a common belief that being unaware to the truth around them can protect them from the hardships the truth with cause to them, this is false. I disagree with Bangamkiki because I believe that not paying attention or annoying the truth within the end hurt you and can cause you to make the same mistakes in the future.

It is better to know and acknowledge the truth head on, than to ignore it and live-in agony because it could help to not make the same mistakes in the future, For example, racism towards black people. In the past black people have been racially profiled and were forced to become slaves and endure torture. Now today we see white people saying racist slurs and racial profiling again even from the police, who are supposed to be the ones to protect us. On March 4th, 2021, a black middle school boy was forced to drink pee by his fellow white classmates. They beat him and laughed and even went as far as taking his inhaler when he needed it. On august 28th, 1955 a young black boy at the age of 14 was murdered and tortured so bad that his family could not even recognize him because he was "allegedly" flirting with a white woman. These examples show that the people who committed these horrible acts to these young black boys did not want to accept the truth that racism is real and continued to torment black people. If they would have owned up to the truth and came to the realization that what they were doing was wrong and that racism is real, they would not abuse young black men just because they are black. They would understand that black people are the most oppressed race in the United States. Because they ignored the truth, now they must live in agony because what they did was a crime.

In conclusion, it is truly better to acknowledge the truth instead of ignoring it because it could cause history to repeat itself. When people do not face their mistakes it east up at them and they in the end suffer instead of coming to terms with it, accepting it, and making the correct adjustments to not do the same thing again.

Habyarimna's argues that "it's better to live in bliss than to know the truth and live in agony", I disagree with her argument. The truth matters because it makes people and our society learn from our mistakes and makes us stronger. Without the truth, there can be no morality, justice, equality, unity, or freedom.

If we live in a world where everyone wants to protect us and keep us from the truth, even if it’s something we might not want to hear, we don’t develop critical thinking skills or improve our society. For example, the holocaust was a massacre that caused destruction and resulted in the murdering of 6,000,000 Jews. If we had turned a blind eye and continued to live in bliss, we would of let this get even worst. Instead of turning the other way we sent people in to see what was happening , and to report back with the truth. The truth coming to light resulted in the liberation of prisoners in concentration camps. If our ancestors didn’t fight for gender equality women’s would of never gotten the chance to vote or own property. If they would of decided that living in bliss was fine, instead of acknowledging and fighting for equality we wouldn’t be where we are now. If people didn’t have the courage to stand up to slave owners and fight to abolish slavery, there would still be segregation. People needed to open their eyes and except that was going on was wrong, they had to acknowledge the truth and realize that servitude and slavery was inhumane Exposing the truth and standing up for what you believe in causes the people around the world to seek change and make the world a better place. If we decide it’s okay to live in bliss we decide that it’s okay to live in ignorance. Blissful ignorance is dangerous and prevents change. A large majority of hate and prejudice are born from willful ignorance. This is why we need the truth, we need to be courageous and run towards the truth not bliss. Although the truth my hurt at times, at least you have the decision to let it hurt you or to make yourself stronger and learn from it. Think about it like this, if your boyfriend cheated on you wouldn’t you want to knew? Of course you would. It might make you sad or angry but you would rather know the truth than to be with someone who is unfaithful. Telling the truth is always better than being oblivious or unaware of what’s happening. The truth is at times hard to process but , without it we cant learn from our mistakes and continue striving forwards while gaining character.

Overall, knowing the truth and possibly experiencing agony is better than living in bliss, because many great things come from the truth. The good out weights the bad. The truth is the one thing that unites all humans, and gives us the courage to fight injustices. Without the truth we are nothing.
