One of many thing which I gain from doing is assignment will be discovering my gratefulness among other things. As a fellow Malaysian, I have to admit how forgetful I am to always stay appreciative towards my country’s diversity. Not only that we are famous globally on multiracial, we also have a huge number of culture being practiced by the people. The 3 main races in Malaysia; the Malay, Chinese and Indian are definitely not the only groups with their own unique culture. As I look deeper to find more information on each of my preferred group or community, I noticed how everyone is adapting to each other among the country. For example, the Baba and Nyonya adapting a lot from both Chinese and Malay race while the Sikhs have a lot of similarities with the Indian and Benggali. This is certainly not some racial issue or problem; this even proof how close we are as one Malaysian. Diving into more educational platform to look for more information for each ceremony or festival being celebrated teach me a lot of whole new things. For instance, how lavish Javanese people are on spending money and time to celebrate the arrival of baby starting from few days before giving birth. Then, I also learnt that people from Sabah and Sarawak specifically the Iban and Kadazan people practiced and hold some similar believed with each other. They show a lot of respect towards the ancestors and give their older family member the honour of naming the new born. Other than that, they also try their best to preserve the culture by sticking to traditional method of pregnancy aftercare. All in all, it is very heart-warming to know and learn about the closeness of Malaysian’s culture in celebrating the arrival of baby. Babies are the pioneers of the future. Therefore, it undeniably important for those in the present to educate them on every culture in Malaysia.
