Bringing Indigenous practices to the forefront, Deborah shared her experience of doing ceremonies and how the indigenous ways of living are getting lost. We challenge these things by bringing ourselves together and practicing our traditions and rituals in constructive and creative ways. Reconnecting back to them is important. What are the rituals and traditions that you have been told were wrong? Interrogate these and bring it to the forefront.

People with social and cultural capital can afford to do that (claiming back rituals). The penalties depend on what positionalities we hold. It is not just the rituals but also the philosophies behind these rituals that need to be acknowledged and shouted to the world. Western frameworks limit us, even the western understanding of Ubuntu has been limited.
