This interpretation is based on a comparison between what we hold in short-term and long-term memory of a golf shot. The difference between a short-term and a long term memory in decision making can be very different when playing a range of different golf shots. This can relate the strategy on the golf course because your short-term decision could be to play safe and take the sensible option but your long-term decision could be to play aggressive and make the mistakes on the easier holes than the harder holes, this could have a massive impact on performance and decision making.

This level of golfer is more likely to be thinking of the possible outcome with potential danger on and around the green. for example on the 1st hole it is a 222 yard hole with poses a lot of danger such 1 very large bunker and trees surrounding the green which could cause problems for the. they are more likely to focus on hitting the ball to the front of the green or short of the green to stay short of all the potential hazards, also it could be the first shot of the day so there is a potential for a bad golf shot.

Perception is dependent on our interpretation of the incoming information. An example of perception is turning up to a golf course for a tournament where you have previously recorded a good score, your perception during the preparation before your round is in a good place as you know you have previously had a score there.

Long term memory can come into context when you are required to play a specific shot during a competition. As a player you may have perfected the required shot some 4 weeks before the event so the long term memory can help you once again perfect the shot.
Short term memory is similar to long term but instead of being 4 weeks prior the event, you could've just played the same shot the day before or even a few holes before

A cognitive level golfer will be mainly focusing on their technique and probably be taking into consideration their surroundings. They may be thinking of past experiences of playing a certain hole and worry about repeating mistakes they have made. The first shot of the day on a long par 3 may distract them from executing the swing they have been taught and trying to repeat.
