They were simple people who tried living their life as best as they could so they could seem holier than thou, but boredom got the best of teenage girls where they began to accuse many of witchcraft. Before long it became a hysteria in Salem with many of the accused being put in jail, 20 even being hung. During the trials it was a better option to pled guilty as they would be allowed to live, although in Giles Corey's case, he did not pled guilty or no guilty, which led him to being pressed to death. Author Arther Miller faced his own witch trial in the 1950s where he was accused of being a communist/communist sympathizer.
