Atlas was once a Greek Titan and his task was to hold the sky up on his shoulders for eternity. This would be a good name because without atlas there would be no sky. This is similar to the moon, if we did not have the moon orbiting our planet then there would be no tides, the Earth's wobble will get more intense, our seasons will change, and nights would become darker.

Ok. Hear me out. What shape is the moon? That's right, an egg shape. You know what else has eggs? STINKBUGS. But wait, there's more. What color is the moon? Grey. Stinkbug eggs? GREY. What else can you view from Pennsylvania? The moon. What else is prominent in Pennsylvania? You guessed right. Stinkbugs. Finally, and most importantly of all, what do I see when I look up at night? THE MOON AND STINKBUGS. Clearly all these things must be connected, and the moon MUST be a gigantic stinkbug egg. I think when she hatches all the stinkbugs are gonna crowd the Earth and turn it into a stinkbug city, so we gotta counteract this by making the Moon seem so much cooler so they stay there instead.

((In all seriousness, the moon's rocky surface makes it grey and its crater impacts give it a pock-marked, textured appearance. It's in a synchronized orbit with the Earth so its same side is always facing us. The large dark spots on the moon, more specifically the lunar maria, look similar to the dark spots on a stink bug's egg. The eggs are also a similar shape to the moon, being elongated and not fully spherical))

In Greek Mythology Poseidon is a Greek God of the sea. Poseidon control the sea just as the moon does. The moon's gravitational pull generates the tidal force that controls what we call high tide and low tide. The name Poseidon also means "husband of the earth", when I think of the moon I think of it as earth's accessory since it orbits the Earth. Without the moon our oceans would turn to ice and the Earth would have extreme weather changes. This is because the moon keeps the earth at a tilt with gravity creating sustainable weather for life. As I mentioned the moon controls the sea's tides just like Poseidon control the sea.

Luna is also one of the most common cat names, and I like to think of the moon as a cat because they are protective and loyal. The moon keeps us from wobbling too much, and acts as a shield from asteroids and other space debris, gives us tides, and gives us light at night, all of which benefits Earth to be more stable and sustain life.
