Draper wasn’t really what I expected, after reading the summary. I thought the book would focus on Diamond, the girl who gets kidnapped, which it did in the beginning. There are only short chapters that circle back to what is happening to Diamond and the rest are about the effect that Diamond’s abduction had on the people around her. There are multiple perspectives used throughout the book, which emphasize the effect of Diamond’s disappearance. The author successfully uses this technique to get her purpose across, however I feel that because there are so many other perspectives and people introduced, the horrifying fact that Diamond is being held against her will by a stranger is slightly overshadowed. But, overall I find the book to be very enlightening about the dangers that teens are exposed to and it is written very well. This quote is a direct metaphor for Thane's personality (he cried out like an "animal").  It touches on the fact that he is, essentially, bestial due to his vicious nature.

This quote personifies the vigil candles. In this time of need, it would seem that Justin needed the light to keep hope. Throughout the book, the author  plays with this theme of light and dark, whether it is tye weather mirroring characters' moods or just setting the mood for a scene.
