As Dia De Los Muertos begins, one of the street dogs knocks over a photograph which break the glass from it, when he unfolds the other half he sees a guitar that looks the exact same as one of his favorite musicians, he thinks Ernesto De La Cruz is part of his family.

When Miguel wanted to be a musician his family told him to join their shoe shop business but he refused to join for wanting to pursue his dream of a musician.

When Miguel crosses the bridge and sees Hector dressed up as Frida Kahlo trying to cross over to the Land of the Living, which doesn't work and he is sent back to the Land of the Dead.

Crossing the threshold

As Miguel runs away and finds Ernesto De la Cruz burial, Miguel picks up his guitar plays a note on the guitar, as Miguel looks out the window of the burial Miguel starts to see skeletons and sees the Land of the Dead which he crosses and reunites with his dead family members.

Tests, Allies, Enemies

As Miguel and his dead family member enter the Land of the Dead, he makes allies which are his family members, Hector and makes enemies later on which is Ernesto De la Cruz but for now Miguel thinks Ernesto is family.

The Ordeal

Whenever Miguel gets called to sing on the stage, he is nervous but after he gets confidence from Hector Miguel starts to sing like he confident.

Miguel has allies, which are Hector and Ernesto which ends up being the villain of the story when he reaches his place where Hector meets Ernesto.

The Road back

Miguel and his family sneaked in the show where Ernesto was supposed to sing they fight the security and chase Ernesto which leads them closer to the climax.

The Reward

Miguel is able to get through security and go through Ernesto's mansion party, when Miguel arrives inside he steps in and starts to sing on of Ernesto's famous song, which gets Ernesto's attention.

The Resurrection

After Tia Imelda finishes singing they go backstage which is where Miguel is grabbed by Ernesto unknowingly being recorded as his fans see the scene, which Ernesto throws Miguel off the building they are in, under a colorful dragon like named Pepita saves Miguel and brings him to his family.

Return with the Elixir

As Ernesto is thrown off to the bell and is killed by it, sunrise rises up and Miguel does't wanna go, Hector distracts him by talking to him and as Tia Imelda slowly gives him the blessing he is brought back to Land of the Living and reunites with his family and finally is able to sing as a musician in his family.
