Team teaching allows us to easily break down groups into various skill levels to help each student succeed at their own pace and challenge those who are already advanced in that skill.

I think we are already improving one aspect with having the rosters set and shared a week prior to the choice unit. I think we can improve on grading and returning grades to teachers of each student. Maybe instead of passing all the papers back and forth, we use the excel sheets with the rosters on it and input all grades there.

Negative- with testing coming up and being a possible issue, this time of year might not be the best time to do a choice unit. We are also going to be dealing with behavior issues that might be better with the students' original teacher.

Positive- students get the chance to take ownership of their choice for this unit section. If they complain or don't like what they are doing, we can remind them that it was their choice. Hopefully they will be more motived to do well at their activity.

A way to improve- could we use Schoology to record grades? Since some of us have been placed as administrators on other gradebooks, would that be possible to place grades for students who aren't originally ours? Or would this be too confusing?

Positive - Planning the "right way" mapping the units out from standards to culminating activity. Also we can bounce ideas off each other, working together even though we don't officially have common planning.

Negative - Not everyone puts forth the same amount of effort. I understand people work on different schedules, but when things are not planned it gives me A LOT of anxiety and I feel I have to do everything myself. Which is overwhelming

Ways to Improve - In hindsight maybe not doing it at the beginning of the 4th quarter, but I don't know if there is really a "best" time. Maybe have a cap on the number of students that can pick each choice. With more of us in the gym we could have possibly offered something additional.

Things get done the last second (day before or day of) many times during co-planning. It is a good idea, but everyone has to do their share. It becomes unfair if not everyone is pulling their weight and can lead to anxiety and decreased quality of instruction. There are many times that I would rather to the work myself to make sure that it is all done ahead of time.

Co-planning: Either set HARD deadlines for each part of the unit to be comepleted or set up times where people can meet to co-plan. This way everyone is contributing so that it is fair for all parties.
Team teaching: We could also make all assignments availaible on schoology (speecifically unit major assessments) so that students can access easily if they miss a day, regardless of the teacher. This does not mean that we need to use devices for every assignment but it would make it easier for students to have access to anything that they have missed.
