Adiostextbook Units:
These units all focus on skills such as describing, giving opinions, expressing likes/dislikes, comparing/contrasting, and asking/answering questions. The overall indicator of whether students were performing at a the Spanish 3 level was the complexity of their written/spoken work and the complexity of the text they were able to read and understand according to the proficiency rubric. For example, level 3 students (intermediate low) should be able to give their opinion using "strings of simple sentences" and "combine words and phrases to create original sentences" regardless of the topic (food, clothes, travel etc.) A level 1 student (novice low) expressing his/her opinion would use "simple words" (e.g. bonito, feo, feliz). Throughout each unit, students were given lists of "familiar words and phrases" that they could build upon to reach a higher level of proficiency. Also, we would spend some time on a specific grammar point that was necessary for them to acquire a skill (using the subjunctive to give recommendations in the "enfermedades y remedios" unit.

Below are the units we explored:
La Tomatina (not adiostextbook)
Super 7 Verbs (not adiostextbook)
El Turismo
Arte Callejero
Enfermedades y Remedios
Celia Cruz y la música de salsa
El Día de los Muertos
Amor en el aire
Mitos y leyendas
