I, Robot

Brief summary: I, Robot was first published as a science fiction novel in 1950 by Isaac Asimov. The story was about how humans and robots would interact in the future, this concept was loved and turned into a movie in 2004, directed by Alex Proyas, starring Will Smith.

The movie was more focused on the relationship between a robot hating cop and the first sentient robot, Sonny. Most robots have 3 main laws they have to follow, but Sonny, remarkably, didn't have these principals, he was just as real as anyone else. Sonny and Will Smith team up to fight a greater evil. This evil was a company wide AI attempting world dominance. Sonny and Will Smith team up and kill the AI in an epic fight, where the main characters Sonny and Spooner meet eye to eye at the end, symbolizing indifference between the two.

The movie ends with Sonny leading a peaceful group of robots to supposedly a better tomorrow and we're with a happy ending.

Brief summary: A.I is a movie about a robotic boy, created with the intention of easing the minds of 2 parents who have a child in the hospital and need to cope.

He is sent to the house in the begining of the movie, the wife is happy with it, but the husband is angry she would ever replace their son. They try to put him to sleep but fail as robots don't sleep, leading to a scene where the mother and her new son bond.

The conflict begins when the real son comes home, and they're yet to get rid of the robot boy David, so David is mistreated by his brother who believes he's better due to him being meat, not machine. The boys fight with each other, leading to David harming himself trying to eat more food than his brother. David has another moment where he puts himself and his brother in harms way, where he panics and tackles his brother into the pool, nearly drowning him.

Through out all this at home trouble, he has a friends teddy bear, who is also AI. Both of them escape into the woods after the mother left them there after David's incident in the pool. He is warned of the flesh fair and to avoid it, of course David is just a boy and he is incompetent to the vast dangers around him, so inevitable he is caught.

Another major part of the story is a robot gigolo who was framed for the murder of a client. He too is captured by the flesh fair.

In a cage the 2 meet and David is saved, protected of course by the gigolo. The crowd rushes the stands when they see the injustice of David's torture.

Both Sonny and David's relationship with people is inhumane at the begining, with being consistantly called "it" rather than he, their development as people is marked by other characters and how they talk to them. The more human they become, the more people call them "he" instead of "it".

Both David and Sonny are both on the run for the greater part of both movies. They're forced to fight for freedom and survival while being hunted down. David by the flesh fair and Sonny by the police.

Both Sonny and David harm a human in their story's, David in the pool with his brother, and Sonny killing his father as requested. Both of these should not have been possible. but due to david being the first, or at least main artificially consciousness being. Sonny on the other hand was taught emotion and to disobey his programming, both have very different paths, yet arrive at the same destination.

A major part of I, Robot was the wink sybolising trust and humanity, so when Sonny winked at Spooner at the end it was a big deal. There wasn't anything like that in A.I. Or that Sonny found family in his friends, when David was rejected by his actually family, never really having anyone but the gigalo and his teddy bear.

At the end of A.I, there was a scene where everyone unanimously agreed that robots don't beg for their life, and what was happening as morally wrong no matter if it was meat or metal. However in I, Robot, rather than the world rushing to Sonny's rescue, people are against him, its not the world who saves Sonny, but Sonny who saves the world.
