In this recorded webinar, the Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS) team share an inspiring look at how they are developing their new strategic plan in a truly meaningful way through storytelling and visual art, led by the voices that matter most. Children, young people, families, staff and volunteers from across Scotland have all played a central role in shaping the plan.

You’ll hear how CHAS engaged children of all ages, amplified lived experience, and ensured those voices were genuinely reflected in their future direction.

If you’re interested in co‑production, creative engagement, or placing children and families at the heart of strategy this webinar is well worth watching.

From 1 August 2026, new changes arising from the Domestic Abuse (Protection) (Scotland) Act 2021 come into effect. These introduce important new protections for victim-survivors of domestic abuse regarding tenancy succession and notices, applying to all Scottish Secure Tenancy (SST) holders — including those who began tenancies with Highland Council before this date.

What this means in practice:

The perpetrator of domestic abuse can be removed from the tenancy

The victim-survivor can be given the tenancy in their own name and continue living in, or return to, the family home

Victim-survivors have more choice to make the decision to remain in their home

These changes move all social landlords towards a more victim-centred tenancy model and represent a significant step forward in supporting survivors to access safe, stable housing.

🔗 More information: highland.gov.uk/housing

Tenants with questions or needing advice should speak to their housing officer or local advice organisation.

The fund aims to strengthen prevention, early intervention and accessible support within local communities.

The fund is aligned with the Scottish Government’s Children and Young People’s Community Mental Health and Wellbeing Supports and Services Framework, which promotes early help, relationship-based practice, whole-family approaches, accessibility, inclusion and strong partnership working.

Applications are encouraged from collaborative partnerships that can demonstrate how their proposals will improve emotional wellbeing, resilience, confidence, social connection and access to support, while helping to reduce isolation and prevent escalation to specialist services. Priority will be given to projects that are community-based, trauma-informed, co-designed with children, young people and families, and that address barriers to participation, particularly for under-represented groups.

The fund seeks to ensure that children, young people and families receive the right support, in the right place, at the right time, through strong collaboration between communities, the third sector and public services.

More information can be found at: Whole Family Wellbeing - Highland Community Planning Partnership

Please note: Application form links will go live on Monday 7th September 2026 at 09:00 hours.

Help us shape new training opportunities for Carers

Connecting Carers, in partnership with Highland Home Carers, is developing a new training programme to help unpaid Carers build practical skills, grow in confidence and feel better equipped to support themselves and the person they care for.

We want to hear what you think.

The programme could include a range of practical and informative sessions, such as:

First Aid

Moving and Assisting

Nutrition and Hydration

Carers’ Rights

Adult Protection

We also want to make the training as accessible as possible. This could include delivering sessions locally, helping to arrange replacement care where needed, and, where necessary, providing overnight accommodation to make attending easier.

Whether you would be interested in taking part, have ideas about what should be included, or think there are barriers we need to consider, we'd really value your views.

Please submit your feedback HERE by 11:59pm on Tuesday 22nd September.

Your feedback will help us create a training programme that is relevant, practical and accessible for Carers across Highland.

Summer of Sport is here — and the Highlands is in on it!

High Life Highland is proud to be part of Summer of Sport, a national campaign backed by the Scottish Government and sportscotland, bringing more opportunities for children and young people to get active this summer and beyond.

Whether it's trying a sport for the first time or building on existing skills, Summer of Sport is all about giving young people across Scotland the chance to move more, have fun, and feel good. As a partner in the campaign, we're helping to bring activities to communities right across the region — from sports sessions and clubs to our Schools Out holiday programme.

There's something for all ages, abilities and interests, and we're working hard to make sure that as many children and young people as possible can get involved this summer.

Are you a club or community group?

If you run sport or physical activities and want to get involved, there may be funding and support available through the Summer of Sport programme. We'd love to hear from you.

We are looking for collaborative projects that increase activity levels locally and allow for sustained participation in sport. We want to reduce barriers to participation, enhance local offerings, celebrate sport and physical activity through events and festivals and upskill our volunteers and coaches to ensure a sustained impact from the project.

We envisage grants to community groups to be in the region of £200 - £2,000 but welcome broader ideas and applications in.

Reach out to your local Active Schools Coordinator, Community Spot Hub Officer or email us at HLHSummerofSport@highlifehighland.com
