Water was essential for Rome. Ancient Rome was an advanced civilization but it does not compare to the world right now. Since ancient Rome was very long ago they did not have access to everything we have today. Like water, water was something very big to that civilization but it also cause many problems as it also help them. Romans understood that illnesses were caused by natural causes, and bad health may also have been caused by bad water and sewage. Ancient Rome was very crowded meaning diseases could spread rapidly because of their poor diet and hygiene. In the winter and early in the spring elders often got flu-like symptoms, many people think it was because of their poor diets and harsh living conditions. Most people during this time either lived at or below the poverty line. Many lived in apartment complexes with 5 or more stories each housing 30-50 people. Meaning they all shared the same toilets and water fountains. 1 of Rome's many big achievements was baths, they were used by the rich, poor, sick, and more. Since the sick often bathed with healthy diseases and sicknesses were spreading fast, there were a lot of sicknesses and diseases in Rome. Since the sick and healthy shared baths, that's one of the main reasons it spread so rapidly. It seems that this is a good match because Roman sicknesses and diseases came from water many times and the goal is about clean water and sanitation. This SDG is focused on clean and drinkable water and sanitation which could have helped Rome help keep clean their water and their environment. it said many things about how there is much water but we are just giving ourselves less with the way we treat water
