         <description><![CDATA[<div>Once, I introduce  7 tile game to the kids. I had already made 7 wooden tiles so we played the game. After this I asked students to play the game with 5 stones. So they had to find 5 stones from they yard and build them on top of each other. They found many obstacles on their  effort. They had to search for the right stones and solve the puzzle which stone had to put first. They made many wrong efforts before they find their solution. </div>]]></description>

They came with little research and did their work in small groups with the materials they brought from their homes. They moved to the design phase after research and discussion. Students get a real-life problem that they need to solve and they offer different solutions. They solve them using different techniques and to make it easier, they disintegrate the problem into smaller steps.          <description><![CDATA[<div>When I taught the topic 'Float or Sink' in Pre-Primary, I gave each of my students a few random items but each student had a different selection of random items so that no two students were the same. e.g. straws, twigs, elastic bands, paper, plastic cup, sponge, fabric, wire, pebbles. And I gave them the problem situation.&nbsp;<br>I told them that the plastic doll is my favourite doll and it has fallen into the water . I asked them to build something using the items I gave them to see if they could help my doll survive in the bucket of water because she can't swim.&nbsp;<br>It was fascinating to see what they created and then we tested their creations and categorised the items that were helpful to build something to float on water and vice versa.</div>]]></description>

We always explore how the newt (Lissotriton vulgaris, old name: Triturus vulgaris) looks in nature, and we compare the characteristics the author took from the real animal, and the human characteristics he added to it.          <description><![CDATA[<div>I plan to deal with Problem-based Learning these days. The question I will ask the students is: "Are earthworms useful and beneficial? If so, why?"<br>We will first pick up some earthworms from the school yard. Then we will create an artificial environment inside a glass jar. There we will place layers of soil and excess. Finally we will place the earthworms that we collected in the jar. We will throw dry leaves on top. We will cover the jar with a dark cloth and leave the jar in a dark place, so that the worms think they are on the ground. After a few days, we will pick up the dark cloth and notice the changes we will see on the walls of the glass jar. We will record our observations and draw our own conclusions. Finally we will answer, if they are useful and beneficial and why. We will free our friends where we found them to return back to earth.</div>]]></description>

We created maps, we took photos and wrote down characteristics that define their condition. Students evaluated them based on some criteria posed by themselves. Finally, they wrote a letter making suggestions to the municipal authority to improve these green places. It was really a meaningful experience for children.&nbsp;<br><br></div>]]></description>

When students have reached a satisfactory level of comprehension and fluency on a mathematical notion and/or process, Ι assign them inquiry-based tasks which is strongly suggested to be edited and accomplished even away from their own class, therefore in school’s IT laboratory or in school’s Library or even at their homes, in a blended learning style of teaching and learning. According to their knowledge acquired during each current learning session, students are asked to become researchers and expand their learning repertoire from a teacher-focused one to an active, energetic and constructivistic oriented one.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Together with my students, we searched for sustainable solutions and we set up a green place in our school's garden, where we first decided on the organic seeds we would use, and then our students provided the seeds. Information about vegetables was gathered, a fence was made from bamboo around the garden, and explanations were prepared. My students worked in groups. A group of students hoeed the soil, and a group of students sowed and watered the seeds. A group of students did research and made a video on how to cultivate for a sustainable environment. Above all, they understood the importance of agriculture and growing vegetables very well.</div><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Design Thinking approach can work outdoor, as well. I think having students in groups and using the Design Thinking process  can support different activities that we can do outside the classroom . I also use this approach  for language and content implementation with CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning). We made CLIL Art activities outdoor (land  Art) using English.  We also  practised Storytelling, creating a collaborative story in English, set in the green area of our school . At the end we role played it and Design Thinking was a good roadmap.</div>]]></description>

Each group was assigned a different school area (toilets, library, canteen, playground, and so on);<br>2. they discussed ideas to anticipate problems, challenges, good practices they might need to look for;<br>3. they explored the assigned area and confirmed ideas or found new ones;<br>4. they gathered to organize a presentation about the problems, solutions and good practices they could identify<br>5. they presented them to class and to the school board.</div>]]></description>

As we are working on "city places" students were asked to find creative ways to introduce her to the city.&nbsp; &nbsp;<br>Steps:<br>1. students went to the playground to sketch a city plan of the buildings surrounding school. Our girl drew the ones she was already familiar with;&nbsp;<br>2. starting with the girl's drawing, sts confronted the sketches and came up with a final, more complete drawing while filling in the gaps on her drawing and explaining her each element added<br>The next steps are:<br>3. students&nbsp; will organize in groups to decide how they will help her have a more clear view of the city: they will decide which buildings/places around school may be of interest, how to present it to her, and how to organize any possible school trip to that building<br>4. our girl will go around groups to tell them which buildings/places might be of interest to her, which ones she is already familiar with and so on...</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Growing aromatic plants in our school garden is inquiry-based learning. First, we did a literature study on aromatic plants grown in Istanbul. Then we organized a trip to the botanical garden. During this trip, they learned about aromatic plants in Istanbul. The students chose the aromatic plant they wanted to grow in the school garden. In the lesson, they brought a leaf of the plant and drew a picture of it. These were displayed on the board. They planted their plants by preparing the school garden for planting. They searched the characteristics of each plant and uploaded the information to the QR code. They erected a wooden sign at the location of each aromatic plant. Visitors to the garden got information about the aromatic plant by reading the qr code.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I engaged my students in a task called The Museum of Us. They had to choose an object they like/are attached to/represents them... and prepare a talk about it. The instruction for a talk was pretty clear - it had to include the language we were working on at that time, for example they were told to include two comparatives, two superlatives, at least three other adjectives (positive form), &nbsp; three verbs in present perfect, one if clause...and present their objects while answering a few given questions, for example Why did you choose that object? How did you get it? When do you use it....<br>They brought their objects to school (or photos if the things were too big) and presented them to others. We even put up a stall in the school yard for others to see. Two classes were involved that were given different language tasks /problems to include in their presentations. It was fun.<br>Once it was an online project (during pandemic time) - the rules were the same only that they sent me the photo and the recorded talk (they mostly used vocaroo) and then I assembled their work in the book creator and shared the link so they could see and hear what they did.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

One of the examples that I can share here is the project that we put into practice, this school year, Environmental Education in Project Work and in which the students started from research and then, in groups, elaborate works in digital format that were later presented to all school classes. The students went to another school where, in person, they presented their work to older students and generated a moment of debate in which some learned from each other, without the intervention of the teachers. These works were also presented via videoconference to students from other schools. Students build their learning.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Last week I did a collaborative activity as an English teacher with my colleague who teaches chemistry. We did one of those murder mystery games and the students had to solve a case of murder. They each got a role as a character in the story and they had to speak English to come up with a strategy and discover a murderer among themselves. Then they had to use samples from the crime scene we created and analyze them in the chemistry lab to prove their claims. Needles to say, students had so much fun and we encouraged learning based on a problem.</div>]]></description>

They also have to ask questions, do research, collaborate and they learn by doing. On the grassy plot, each one put the cut-out sole, marked the place, then counted the strands of grass crushed by his sole. Each student was very responsible and correct in counting. Grouping in teams, they had the task of doubling each number obtained and collecting the products.          <title>This year I did with the kindergardeners an inquiry based research about the lack of water. A puppet giraffe came to class and she was nery thirsty. She told to children that in Kenya, her home, there is no much water. She needed help and we started a research about the subject. The inquiry was &quot;Why in Kenya there is not much water? Could the water run out?&quot;. We did team work and through videos, photos, discussions and experiments we answered the question.  </title>

One year my students created a leisure space where they could relax during breaks, another year they bought 30 pairs of indoor shoes for students who never had them (due to different reasons). The local government financed their projects. I always ask students how to make our lessons more attractive and they propose great things (games, musical pauses, yoga etc).</title>
