The innovation, the RFID tag, can uniquely identify different products with different serial numbers. They are made up of a tiny electronic chip and a small coil, which acts as a two-way antenna and is very hard to detect. This can improve efficiency and accuracy in stock delivery for large retail companies. However, this may also overstep into customers' privacy because it can be used to track purchase patterns, which can be perceived as an abuse of trust.

EDRs are the equivalent of black boxes, but found in cars. This can be beneficial in legal matters because it can hold the driver accountable for traffic accidents by tracking the speed of the car at any given time as well as other aspects of a motorized vehicle such as tire pressure. However, this may be thought of as infringing on customer privacy because it tracks what people do with their vehicles.

In this section, the issues with the public postal system are brought to life. Just 50 years ago, the information that can be stored on just two discs would fill and entire building. This may seem like an extremely efficient and positive invention, but it can have very dangerous risks. For example, a junior employee at the British national tax system attempted to send two discs containing valuable information about almost 80% of Britain's population, failed to track the package. By no fault of their own, the package was lost as well as the information. This caused an uproar that shook the nation. This is just one example of how dangerous the freedom and lack of privacy in our world can be.

This section describes how printers have a unique fingerprint for each printed paper. The fingerprint has a bunch of dots that can only be seen under a certain light. The dots encode the time the paper was printed, and the serial number of the printer. This could show who printed lies and and posted it everywhere (libel). This could also potentially be a breach of privacy, if you wanted to send an anonymous letter without someone being able to find you out.
