When people die they are criticized by how they lived their lives (Heaven, hell, or purgatory either one). If the person repented their sin they go to heaven. If you are unrepentant you go to hell, or you go purgatory and get your soul cleaned and made ready for union with God. The Rites or the Anointing of the Sick (Extreme Unction) which is a sacrament is usually given to seriously  ill people. Roman Catholics pray the rosary over the corpse the day before the funeral. Christian funerals are different around the world.
