Discussion Question - Digital Transformations

Summary:

According to Friesen (2020), technology has long since provided personalized digital footprints to users across the globe. However, Friesen (2020) states that personalized digital dialogue could mean the dissolution of education as we know it. Furthermore, the educational design used to explain this phenomenon is a utopian apotheosis, which serves as the premise for describing how over-inflated global interactions and communication culminate into extreme consequences for technology education and personal innovation (Friesen, 2020).

Areas of agreement with the author:

I agree that enlightenment shifts the paradigm in education to learn together separately. Each person's "takeaway" has some personalization, and acquiring new knowledge can and will be distinguishable as a whole and individually in modern education. However,

Areas of disagreement with the author and rationale:

the modern totality of education is not a vacuum for myths and superstitions or unrealized learning. Technology is indeed a global instructor where everyone takes what they need. Wulf (2002), as stated in Friesen (2020) visualized a modernized version of educability, vision, and formation. It seems, the author believes that dreams, myths, or personal ideologies negate individual desires and tech learning as stages at scale or indistinguishable. As a whole, I believe that individual digital footprints are more than just contrafactual modifications. I think that individual educability, by-in-large does not correct itself in technological chaos, but rather silences nay-sayers until new knowledge is generated by the individual.

Questions you have of the author after reading their work and viewpoint:

Is there a "Dark Secret" behind enlightenment? The very meaning of the word illuminates light, so how can Friesen compare apples to oranges, as it seems like a conspiracy theory of sorts? Since individual and personalized learning are culpable, are there other ways to test the outcomes quantitatively and reliably?

Reference

Friesen, N. 2020.

Augmented Reality (AR) is changing the way we know education. This is a relatively new environment for me and I learn new software at the onset of each module. 3D models are integrated and created in real-time at the actual size in any environment. The Artificial Intelligence (AI) software I want to showcase is a 3D AR solution app called Advanced 3D Model Viewer.

This AR app lets you use the multi-interface of 3D models. It allows you to customize backgrounds, cast shadows, and supports various file storages. Also, you can save screenshots on local or cloud-based platforms, and even interact with others.

Method of Evaluation

I would use a multi-level assignment among several people.

I like the ease of use and manipulation fluidity.

Currently, my digital self is in school gaining as much knowledge as my brain can gather, whether it's an app or APA style or editing my manuscript. I'm in a sweatshirt with my hair up and out of the way, walking around the house, doing my daylight responsibilities on 2 hrs of sleep. For instance, I wake up every morning around 2 a.m. and get on my computer to work on a class assignment, dissertation, or personal business. When my family starts to wake up around 6 a.m. or 7 a.m. I already have the coffee on making sure my youngest son gets off to summer school, my husband gets off to work, or I am getting my mom ready for a doctor's appointment. My anxiety makes matters worse because I'm turning into a "true" insomniac who wears a sweatshirt (around the house) and Ugg slippers. Either way, my current state is classified as "Early in the Morning."

This picture represents my future self as an entrepreneur helping individuals with needs in Education Technology while remaining humble and true to myself--relaxed and calm. You can say "I'm letting my hair down." I started growing my hair naturally when I started school thinking that my heart, my work, and my appearance were working in tandem. I also included the brick wall as a VR background for my future self to show that I defeated barriers in my doctoral journey one brick at a time. The look in her eyes is very powerful and determined. This Avatar describes me because I am being my true self now and when I graduate. She is cool, and laid back, hair up, in a sweatshirt. She holds all the cards, and most people won’t see her coming.

This week looks at distance education from the past and where it's going in the future. I have been involved in distance education since it first hit the scene. I wanted to learn all the technology nuances and was excited to teach it to anyone who would seriously listen.

Review the e-text for this week and briefly browse the various topics covered in the Select one topic to read about and reflect on in-depth. Past technology brought us out of the "you've got mail"-AOL phase of surfing technology and email to a 5g network showcasing other platforms, using more gigabytes and many more technical lessons to learn (Ferguson et al., 2019).

Areas of agreement with the author - I agree that technology/distance education has come a long way, but the "people part" of technology has been the most challenging to teach, however, I knew it was not about creating the technology but teaching the technology to the masses. I knew technology could not live without people learning and using it. I searched within myself to see what I knew (educationally) and whom I could teach it. I came up with adults and younger kids (including seniors and young children. I didn't want the students who already knew everything or at least thought they did.

Areas of disagreement with the author and rationale. Ferguson et al. (2019) did some very inclusive research over the past 40 years, and it has been an amazing ride; however, I disagree with the author about the rate of learning technology.
